Optimist. ;)
From what I have seen of the new "chat" it looks like the same chat we gripped about in the alpha.
*ponders and shrugs*
Lesser of two evils from how I am interpreting the information provided. Either they delay the remaining DLCs til the story update is complete or they release what they have ready now.
bufort smith got it right nefarious is trick dempsey he has to be on the payroll , and as a season pass sucker i feel im being ripped off. Oh btw with no story line how are we to earn the right to be in the seventh legion?
Think what you like. The fact remains, I can make my current quick chat window function as is was intended. I am not going to get into further explanation of how I am able to do this.
Did it take them longer than it should have? No doubt.
Will they get it right this time? I have no doubt, because we just figured out what was causing all 3 versions of chat to malfunction.
Arsenic, you should realize it was your thread, and something that I said that made them finally realize what was going on the whole time. They realized what they missed, and they also realized why they could not reproduce the problem.

lol wut? I wish I was on the payroll to post on this forum. Jeezus, if I had a nickel for every post Ive ever made I would me a Millionaire!
I actually have to agree. This is exactly what I have been asking for. Honest, concise answers. As stated above, I may "not like" the answer I got but am happy to have gotten it, nonetheless.
I hope that this will be a trend that continues. The more info I have from the devs, the better. Thank you Trick, for your response.
On a side note. This will make it rather difficult for me to settle an account that started with the announcement of the DLC.
So this being a DLC, what exactly is the PAID portion of this (barely)DLC and what is the FREE portion?
I mean, a chat system, a storyless faction, 4 reskinned weapons, some new virtual clothing, and incursions; all this seems to be more in the Free column. So what exactly is the paid for content or How do you sell a minor patch...sorry, a DLC with no content?
who figured out what was making the chat malfunction , the people on the test server or the developers? ....either way should i really be attacked for expecting more for my money?....maybe we really dont know yet but if the difference between the paid DLC and the free content is an outfit and a title then i have a reason to be upset. I put my faith and money into a company who was producing a game that had potential and now that they have had that money for a while now i guess im supposed to just accept whatever they give me and say thanks...NO thats BS
So is this supposed to be a new industry term? DLNC... Downloadable No-Content? ;)
Hindsight being 20/20, hearing all of this makes me SO GLAD I renewed by legendary DCUO subscription over the weekend.
Wow I hope u r wrong and they didn't turn the main DLC on yet.I fear that if this is so it will kill the game for sure. This will b the last time that I pre-pay, so I did learn something. There is such negitive talk going on already the powers that b in trion should get off of their butts and make some kind of statment, pro or con just so people know, since as far as I'm concerned I've not really gotten a DLC yet even though I'm getting ready to start my 3rd one.If nothing else they should give us something to do because it is the same old missions every day, over and over.I really thought that this was going to b the one from what was said, and from what is now being said it is not.I wonder unless something happens if there will even b a second season game.
What?
You can spell out 1, but not you, are, or be?
Oh crap you just brought the attention of the Shogun of Harlem
http://www.thelastdragontribute.com/...un-is-Back.gif
That was a nice try, really it was.
Let me rephrase what I said to help your understanding. There is nothing you can do to make the current chat work 100% as it was intended, in order for that to happen, we need a fix to be put into place. What Trion discovered shortly before I did was the actual problem. The cause of the issue.
The reason I do not go spilling out all the information is a matter of respect.
Like I've said, I don't care about Trion or what they do, as long as they take care of my favorite game. That is what is happening here. They are going to fix my chat for me, so I see no reason to push the issue further.
Once upon a time someone brought their computer for me to fix. They told me that they could not get the thing to turn on. My mind began racing... power supply... wasn't plugged in... the switch is broken... a bunch of possible fixes but then I tried turning on the computer for myself and it started right up. The person was rather perturbed and wanted me to fix it anyways. I explained if I cannot reproduce the problem, then I can't fix the problem, because from where I am standing right now, there is no problem.
This is basically what happened to our chat. Trion could not reproduce the problem therefore they could not fix it. Someone was reading through Arsenic's thread and reading my responses, and that got a light bulb going I guess because all of a sudden, they knew what the problem was.
THEY DO CARE
THEY ARE LISTENING
THEY ARE ONLY HUMAN
So basically in dlc3 all we get is: Incursions , A new outfit and re-skins of already existing in game weapons....?
Content that amounts to what, $4.00? 99 cents for outfit(10 dollars for an outfit is absurd)/re-skins and 2 bucks for incursions. I honestly thought there would be no worse then dlc1, but trion never fails to disappoint.
I did learn a valuable lesson from all this though. I will never again invest in season pass unless I'm absolutely sure that I'm going to get content worth the price I pay. Also, Defiance is my first and last Trion game.
After losing $140 on a preorder of vaporware; payed for a CG app that was never released, company went poof, I wont spend anything based on promises.
Sorry I didn't mean anything by that... my patience towards the community is actually growing shorter than my patience towards Trion.
It's getting absolutely absurd now.
People always posting how Trion has their heads stuck in the dirt... that isn't what I am seeing here lately. In fact quite the opposite. I am seeing many short-sighted and single-minded attitudes towards the situation, and it sure isn't coming from Trion this time.
It is my opinion (and mine alone it seems) that the only Defiance we should be worried about is the Defiance that will exist after Season 2 ends...
Well, in recent light of what has happened (and, to be honest, what has continued to happen for months), can you blame them? Misplaced anger, I know, but all the same.
*Don't think the world would have been so harsh to Germans during the 1940's - 1950's if it hadn't been for Hitler. * Just sayin'.
*trying to think positive, trying to think positive, Ommmmmm*
Thank you Trick, for taking the time to drop in here, and inform us. It may not have been what the community was expecting, nor wanting to hear, but the gesture was appreciated much the same.
That being said, I have to question the motivations of the team over there in regards to "content".
We've had many many conversations over at Ktam, in the recent past, in regards to the possibilities that may/could exist for more indepth content that would neither cost your team a fortune, nor involve a lot of outside intervention on the part of voice talents and data recorders that were described as a "major investment in time, in money, and resources".
One of the suggestions that I put forth in those conversations, was a tried and true method (tried and true meaning it's been done before in many other games, but it's cheap, and relatively effective) for delivering more story content, without all the extra work involved, using already existing in game methods.
The suggestion for content, revolved around the idea of data posts, or message boards that could be placed at either random locations where the events are supposed to happen, or high traffic areas where players frequent...to deliver vital story/lore information in regards to an event, or incursion, or random bits of lore from professor Strangelove, that basically fills in the gaps as to the how, and the why, of things happening in the bay area. Like I said, it's cheap, but it has been done before.....however, it's better than nothing at all.
Data recorders are fun and all, but feel like a very limited method for conveying your intent for content.
As a CE, and season pass holder (not to belittle you or your team in any means, mind you), but the current direction of content and DLC's feels rather half arsed and shallow, than the robust immersive experience that trion promised us at the outset.
I feel you guys were handed the short end of a really messy stick, and try your best to achieve something with limited resources, but could do much much better if you wanted to....
That being said, there are several routes one could take to expand upon the existing content to make it feel much more than it is at this moment.
One such suggestion, though tired and oft overdone, is to open up more map area to the north of the stratocarrier crash zone, and create a new outpost there (welcome to the city of New Freedom) with most of the things the community has been asking for since launch.
Another such suggestion for the new area, to open up map areas, would be to skin and craft a dirt track racing area for members of the community whom may be inclined to race each other, mad max style, through the new wilderness....I know, I know....overdone....but more than we possibly have now.
What is lacking in the game, can be remedied with a little more fine polish, a minor overhaul of the game engine, and the willingness to do so.
I'm attempting to stay positive for the sake of argument, though time and experience has proven otherwise....so.....How bout it Trick? Can these little things be done? Will the team be willing to go that extra mile, to fix the engine, to craft a story worthy of itself, to go beyond the pale into new frontiers?
I'm asking for the world, I know....but it's worth it.
As much as I would love to see this stuff and way more, they had been working on this DLC since at least September and look what we got. There is no way they could add anything more/meaningful to the game in anything less than 6 months.
They will go ahead with their DLC plans and "season" content... Then *maybe* add more "user-wanted-goodness" if there is a game later down the road.
As far as the "messy stick" they were handed... they did this to themselves. It's not like they inherited the game from another company or bought it. They made this crappy messy stick. I've no sympathy for Trion.
Oh no he didn't! ;)

Sympathy is a term used to describe compassion towards someone who is in a situation that you understand fully.
Many of the players can not have sympathy simply because they don't understand the situation Trion is in.
Just because someone does not understand something does not give anyone the right to go all ignorant and hateful. This is not directed at anyone in particular. If you think it applies to you, then you might be right, and you might want to check yourself.
