Well, that's gonna be a problem.

It's an MMO, yes, but not much of one. They only just recently got chat working acceptably well (a year after launch) and there aren't really any social systems (clans are bare-bones, no mail, no AH, no towns, etc). The storyline quests aren't terrible when taken as a whole, but after that most people just quit. The only thing to do after completing the story is to get your ego up (which actually penalizes you after a certain point) and grind for the lottery boxes that most high-tier weapons come from. It doesn't really appeal to a lot of players--especially not people looking specifically for an MMO.

Having said that, at $10 it's not a big risk. Try it out.

    Simple answer:

    NO

Even at $10 the value is simply not there, especially when you have to pay twice for the same content (with a slightly different texture).

Find another game, any game. MS 'Minesweeper' is a more viable product than Defiance.

Value not there for $10? Dude, what you expect for that price? Hahaha.

I paid 60 euro for the game at launch, and had my fun for that money. Totally worth it. Admittedly, with nowadays knowledge i wouldnt have bought the Season Pass though. The DLC's are a rip-off. But the game for 10 bucks? Or 20 bucks even if you want to play on a console? A Bargain!

Good storyline, challenging endboss, timetrials, hot shots, arkfalls, incursions, sieges, co-op maps, PvP maps. Not many full-priced games that manage to deliver the same variation as Defiance does.

But in all honesty, if you really are only looking for a MMO... This might not be your cup of tea (anymore).

There are far better* MMOs out there with WAY more content and reasons to keep playing.

There is no "traditional" leveling here and I think that can be a massive turnoff for people that want to put time and effort into the game, especially considering, again, there is a huge lack of content.

The DLCs that have been put out are underwhelming, to say the least and each comes with it more bugs and promised content that either doesn't work properly or was completely left out.

There is no** communication with the Trion/Defiance team.

Look at the infrastructure of the team and notice a *potential* trend for the game's future: Mid last year, a HUGE chunk of the Defiance team was laid off... one of the oldest Defiance Community Leaders/Members was apparently laid off, fired, or just quit... The head guy (can't remember his name) left the company in June or July of last year... just recently, two of the Community Organizers/Directors (or sorts) have left for different reasons... Lots of bodies leaving. Typically people stay somewhere they enjoy.

For a cheap price, you can have some fun, but if you are looking for an MMO, chances are you are looking to get addicted. That's why I would say 'NO' to this game. While it may be fun at first, the issues that plague everything, bugs, no content, lame DLC, no end-game, etc. are what kills it.

Like I said, it may be fun for a month or so, but you might find yourself looking for content and an end-game that just isn't there. You may find yourself looking for a clan that really has no overall purpose to this game. You might find yourself looking for a group to raid this or that and realizing you can do 98% of the content by yourself. You might get totally disappointed, as I did, when you see a *potentially* great game go absolutely nowhere and remain that way, month after month.

But, like others have said, try it. This was just my two cents.

*'Better' meaning more content, more traditional, better social aspects, more reasons to level, bigger areas, clan options/reasons, etc.

**Hyperbole, but the communication is quite lacking and not at all transparent, as they would like you to believe.

I don't feel like I got my $60 (pre-purchased) out of it yet, but ahmina keep trying :P

Allow me to add my perspective, out of BOREDOM I bought HALO 4 anniversary and COD Ghosts, and I regret both (and am playing DEFIANCE). At least DEFIANCE has some decent character progression (maxed my pistols last week), and variations in play style (melee build, mad bomber, etc.). Decent story and some fun coop to be had too...

    My alternative to ME3 MP.

CoD: Ghosts... Lol... That makes 2 with buyers remorse haha. Talking about full-priced games which are even too expensive to shake out of budgetbasket, this really is one haha.

    SirServed
Depends on the value you'd put on your dollar. A rule of thumb I use is 1 dollar per hour. If you can spend 10 dollars on this game and manage to enjoy yourself for at least 10 hours, it's worth the buy. As others stated before me, start with a trial.
