Hot Shot: Reservoir Chickens

Anyone got any tips for this?

I can't seem to get past Bronze no matter what I try. There's way too many Ranchers and they run around so fast that they collect all the chickens before I can keep my streak to around 15 or so after the first flock. I try to keep the ground one to keep my bonus alive during down periods but it eventually runs out and bonus resets and I can't get past 360.

Trying to hit Silver for the Zone Completion but seems impossible (and most of the high scores exploited the bug to shoot your weapon).

Only way I could ever get it there is through the exploit. Been sending feedback on that during last 2 Betas but it doesnt change

You can basically miss 10 shots or so and still have plenty of bullets to get a gold, I honestly don't know what to say other than practice your aiming until you are able to do it.

Using the minimap to see when the chicken's spawn behind you can help on occasion but really, if you have any modicum of skill whatsoever this is an extremely easy challenge to complete...

Yea same thing eventually occurred for me where it bugged out and I could use my shotgun and LMG instead to rack up the points into an easy gold. Was worried at first till I ran out of bullets on the shotty and thankfully it ended giving me credit. I read all the common advice to pay attention to the radar and such but I kept running into problems where I'd get a bad sync of guys and they'd pick up the chickens as they spawn and there went the x30 multiplier :/ I had no problems hitting, just when there's nothing to hit not much you can do about it.

You're a total joke. You're literally the first person I've heard say it was easy and quite frankly unless you post a video of you showing how easy it is to rack up a gold with just the pistol I'm just going to assume you're talking out of your ***.

After the first wave where tons of chickens spawn, follow one of the ranchers and always look ahead of him... You should be able to kill each chicken as it pops keeping your multiplier going by just following slightly ahead of ONE of the ranchers...

Don't bother trying to hit them all, just keep your gun ahead of one of them and you will do fine.

Don't forget to hit the green chicken, worth bonus points.

I also agree with this. It is quite difficult. The only way I was able to do it was through said exploit, which allowed me to use grenades and stuff, which was fun for the mass chicken spawn

Just keep an eye on the minimap so you can see where the chickens spawn. And leave at least one chicken hanging around (preferably the one that keeps spawning next to you and the farmers can't get to it) so that you have at least something to kill before you lose the multiplier.

I can see it being easy for some people and I could probably get past bronze with enough practice. It just seems like an inordinate amount of work for what you get out of it. For people who lack the inherent skill to shoot defenseless animals, even more so.

If it was something off to the side that you could do for fun, that would make more sense. But for some people who want area completion gear and I know a majority are, I'm sure it frustrates the living hell out of them.

When the servers come up, after the first mass chicken spawn. Just concentrate on following on rancher looking slightly ahead of him, don't worry about what spawns on the minimap, just keep following the rancher. Save the chicken right next to you for when you might lose the multiplier.

cheating to get high points is just as bad as hacking if u ask me its not fair to the real player (as in someone that does it the way its meant to be done)

Bookmarked thread, will make and upload video.

Double your mouse sensitivity just for this mission . Don't immediately kill the lone chicken that occasionally spawns next to you. Save him if you can't get a kill from the fence and your multiplier is in jeopardy.

When I did it in beta without a single miss I got about 1500 points, max combo the entire time, 10 misses will cost you the gold.

It was on xbox beta, gold was something like 1350 because of older build.

then again point values change aswell i suppose.

It appears my numbers were off also, it seems the amount required for gold is well below 1750 and may well infact be 1350... considering in my video I missed 9 shots and still got 1770, I am reckoning you can miss 10 shots just fine...

Actually, you missed 10 shots ;)

In my opinion there should be 2 ranchers instead of 3, they keep grabbing all the chickens before I even see them spawn ._.

From the look of it your video is from a pc, which yes in a scenario like this point and click shooting is much simpler than using a 360 or ps3 controller.

Well I stand corrected about you talking out of your ***. That said I didn't have nearly as easy as time with it and constantly ran into problems with chickens being snatched and losing the bonus. From the video it seems like you're fine if you can maintain your bonus but if you lose it at all you have no chance of hitting silver.

The thing is, the guys pretty much follow the same path from what I saw throughout my attempts. Watching the minimap like a hawk helped me out greatly. If you're not going to get a chicken because of a rancher? Just move further down the line and hit the next chicken. Or if its during the time that the chickens spawn and than get taken almost immediately after, just go down a few posts and shot when it comes up.

Oh, and don't go haywire when the multiple chickens come up. Take your time and just hit what you know you can hit.

Don't play with a controller...
You can't gimp yourself horribly then complain aiming is too hard.

I hate this challenge personally.... Bleh. In fact, all of the shooting challenges seem to confound me for some reason. Well, not all of them but enough of them. Lol, I can stay top three consistently at Arkfalls but can shoot some damn chickens....

I gotta say i am loving playing the game so far........ But then this seriously stupid task comes up and its brutal hard ( I had less problems completing Dark Souls!! ) and what wrecks my head ever more is the poor pay-out for completing it. Its the most pointless task i have seen in a game for quite some time. I know everyone is doing the glitch to get past it and i would nearly do the same at this point.... I will keep on trying tho hahaha.

What I believe, personally, is that when this challenge was first brought up the developer had 2 running around, one placing and one picking up the chickens. When the Alpha players just started "following the placer" around and "killing the thief" to get the -3 but still rack up the kills it was adjusted and a 3rd placer added.

I'd say take away 1 of the ranchers to aide the majority of the player base that are using consoles. I will continue to try no matter what, as soon as it's the last one I need to do for Madera, however I do not expect my skill level should fall so terribly short in this one challenge that I cannot even place bronze yet I place Gold (with honors a few times) in other challenges.

Im in favor of a lot of the challenges being nerfed on the console. For a while I had the top 3 in the playstation beta for a few of the challenges but on the console this kind of challenge is obscene without the pinpoint accuracy of a mouse.

One thing that would help is an adjustment of the autolock feature console shooters have. The aim slows down the closer you are to a target allowing for more accurate shooting but the chickens don't register as a target for the purposes of this.

The driving challenges could use a bit more breathing room for silver. (The gold is needed for non area pursuits so it can be much tighter as a final achievement kind of thing.)

So how does the bug happen where you keep your weapon? This challenge is ridiculously hard and very irritating that you need silver (when bronze is plenty hard enough, and I don't suck at FPS games - or 3PS) to finish the zone.

Edit: Guess all I had to do was cry. Got gold the next time I tried, 1530 points.

Id be happy to tell you over a different medium but at the rate they are patching stuff I won't post it here. Its simple to do and probably a simple fix.

you bet your sweet *** it is tried for an hour and could only get bronze. Wish there was an easier way cause i sure would like to complete Madera and its the only thing in the way

I am honestly struggling to believe people are having so many issues with an extremely simple point and click challenge...

I was able to cause it to glitch twice, I tried it once and it kinda happened on accident then repeated it and found what causes it. If you need to know feel free to send me a private message.

You seem to have many posts gloating your own abilities over others and putting down others, I'd point out some obvious flaws but I honestly would rather you not get butthurt and troll me relentlessly. Regardless, if you actually took time to read and take in the other members posts many of them are finding this post string while searching for it, but are playing on XBOX and PS3 (aka: console) versions in which it's not simply point and click.

Also, to help mitigate the incoming flaming response, yes I am aware this is under the "PC" Board, however when this issue persists over all mediums it is not A: surprising or B: unheard of for cross platform posts to be created so trolling about it would be moot.

This challenge is not THAT hard...

After the first mass chicken spawn, simply follow ONE RANCHER, and constantly look ahead of him... Chickens will spawn ahead of him and you can shoot it very easily. Do NOT worry about the minimap after the first mass chicken spawn, simply follow one rancher around shooting the chickens that spawn directly in front of him...

I can get gold damn near every time by using this strategy

I apologize for nothing. Running around stating how "easy" everything is and implying you're bad if it isn't easy for you is about as helpful as a kick when you're down. Even has he notes, however, it clearly isn't an uncommon issue.
