what happened around here over the course of ONE DAY????

Now, I am nearly reaching the level of cynicism and anger with "The Company" and the Standards and Practices of the aforementioned - this is known.
When I played ALL DAY Saturday with the Dawn Patrol, I had a blast and there were a few issues but on the whole It was great.
Looking at the forum this morning, WTF happened????
Every thread is a border skirmish or someone shaking their fists at "The Company" HQ.
Why?
Now, I am not a 5K.
Maybe a 3,500 or thereabouts - and I help as many noobs as possible and I never back down from a max threat level fight. Ever. I don't give a rat's fat @$$ how much scrip it costs me, either. I play Defiance to fight.
I am a warrior of Paradise and I want to help.
If You need help on XBL NA and You are low EGO, fire me a friend req.

Amen bro! The problem is, the voices of us that like it, which it still believe is the majority of players don't come on here to let our voices be heard.

I personally do see both sides of this argument. I have played since day 1 and I am a season pass holder so I was one of the many that went into a rage when dlc 5 came out for all the same reasons as everyone else, but it is getting better. The recent patches are helping with the super powered enemies and I have come across a few new weapons combos that are effective against some of them no matter what the threat lvl even though I am only ego 2400. I think the main issue is that it was a major game mechanic change that was no where near refined enough for release. It is getting better but isn't not there yet. But all I really want is new outfits and massive land expansion and I will be happy.

Not everyone who played Defiance did so for the challenge, nor wanted an increase in the challenge. Not everyone playing Defiance finds it fun to fight no matter "how much scrip it costs" them.

Exactly. @Crixda, how could you not notice how DIFFERENT Defiance is? It didn't happen in one day. It's been a week since 4/15 DLC release and many long-time players are still unhappy with the "new age".

If I wanted to play a different game I would have gone and bought something else.

I hurt and I feel joy with Defiance.
True, being a total whackjob around here doesn't help when I am super-pissed one day and asking why people are angry the next. No, I understand about the mechanic changes and grenade changes and the seemingly invinceable enemies and my useless guns.
My question was more along the lines of there being more threads this morning of angst that lately, that's all.

Where is our land expansion and kickin' outfits, to echo the query?

And this is exactly what i was talking about, CRIXDA feels this game with great passion and when it`s going well he states his love for the game, and when it`s not doing OK he goes in a rampage of dissatisfaction.
I`m much alike him, but i learned from the passage of years to hold my tongue as best as i can...

Ego 36** but i cannot accept these changes. Yes enemies needed to be harder but went overthetop. Nothing else needed to be changed. I hate the way Defiance is now. A year of grinding for my weapons only for them to be turned to dust unless im willing to put my hand in my pocket. I think they have totally ****ed everything up for me. Its just not the same .

This here, make them harder is OK, don`t make them harder and multiply them. That is NOT ok.

What happened around here? Well...maybe it was an unasked-for, unneeded, poorly-executed massive change in the basic mechanics of the game? Maybe it was the utterly absurd, immersion-breaking sillyness of it taking an entire 111-round magazine to kill a frelling skitterling (with a very good, upgraded OJ Casti Springer, no less)? Maybe it was the unwanted introduction of yet another currency, complete with an associated weapon "progression" system that amounts to planned obsolescence that you can never keep up with (w/o either insane grinding or big cash outlay for bits)?

Or maybe "D: all of the above and more."

A lot of players, me included, wanted a bit more challenge. Or at least more options to find greater challenge while leaving at least some relatively easy options for casual players (or when we just felt like mindlessly murdering pixels to unwind). We could have gotten that by the simple expedient of making the enemies a lot more dangerous to us (not, not, NOT by making us a lot less dangerous to them...a completely wrong-headed approach), redressing the huge imbalance of power and requiring actual tactics

That's not what we got. We got bullet sponge enemies that require no more skill to beat, just a lot of time and ammunition. We got a scaling system so broken it was turned off on the test server as unusable. We got spawn- and corpse-camping enemies that kill you before you can even hit a movement control when you rez or extract. We got, basically, a game update that's giving Star Wars Galaxies NGE a run for its money as the worst game update ever.

And I think we know what that update did to SWG, don't we?

I will defend myself only by saying this:
I get amazingly pissed and I know that I can be probably too vocal about what I think about situations involving Defiance.
Here is the deal though - I honestly rail against "The Company" and their "Standards and Practices" and not Defiance itself.
I believe in The Game and I encourage new folks to play Defiance, so much that I buy copies and hand them out.

Well the threads are what happens when you piss off a large majority of your players. People who "WERE" happy with the game never posted cause they didnt have a reason to. Now that you go and change the game that they love , they feel a need to come and post and let "The Company" know that they are displeased. Expect more people to come out of the wood work too.

But yes, they need to add the land expansion already, its half a year over due. The outfits we would have plenty of if they just take the darn things out of the fricking RNG boxes in the store. 10 bucks for the head and outfit IS a good price , but 20 bucks IS NOT!

I can't disagree with much of what you said. Further, I think if some of the vets started over with a beginner character they would see the problem magnified.

That said, sometimes I enjoy the new challenge, but that's not to say it doesn't still require tweaking.

$10 is far too much for a single outfit. Of course $10 for the possibility of maybe getting some random weapon in a drop or clothes from a lock box is absurd. When I pay for something I expect to get it, not some random possibility of maybe getting it.

I'd pop back in and play some, but is there really any point? It's just grind, grind, grind, and grind some more for very little payout.

Yeah I agree 10 bucks is still expensive, but its better than the 20 bucks they put the 7th Legion outfits in for. If you ask me those should have been free, especially for anyone who had bought the dlc or had it with the season pass. 8 bucks an outfit is reasonalble. Leaves a little extra for maybe a boost or small inventory increase. Yeah I hate to grind or have multiple games I have to grind on. Defiance was my fun Anti-grind game, I could drive around run over s--- (hearing 6 or 7 skitterlings splat under tire was wonderful), Do things casually, go do an Arkfall, and get a decent reward for the effort I put in. Now its Grind for a month for a chance at *insert random dlc bs here*

This man gets it. I've got 2 friends left in the game that I play with almost daily and both are ready to quit. It's not the casual, "run around shooting stuff while BSing with your buddies" that it used to be. Now it's having to "think, plan and execute", and that's not where they're at. They play this game to relax, not be frustrated and stressed.

I give them a week, two at the outside before they rage quit and never start the game again. And I'm guessing that type of player makes up around 75% of the population of Defiance.

The trouble with that (I agree btw) is that there is no way in hell those players can be replaced with new ones due to a 65 metascore and poor word of mouth.

Heck I'm a teacher, and at snack and recess times I'm not afraid to let down my hair and talk games with the kids that like them, I also talk with a lot of friends online and off. Any who mention Defiance, I warn them that its pretty much a POS now. The price might be low but its not a good buy. If "The Company" would have actually tried to add new stuff like the asked for land expantion, new vehicles and tried to fix some of the ongoing problems from launch, then I'd be more apt to tell people to buy it.

Yeah, the moment this game started down hill was when they nerfed the drop rate of OJ's from the Warmaster. Ever since its spiraled futher down the toilet. I'd like to have the original Lead Developer from last April back. He couldn't do any worse.

I downloaded the update, and logged in to play for a bit. I see the new strategy is 8 or 9 people camping at emergency sites. Tried to do some rep missions, they wouldn't start. Tried to do a couple of incursions, no way to start them. Had to relog.

Spent 20 minutes just dumping ammo in to enemies by the boat load and no score, no payout nothing but the rep points. Every time I think they can't make this game any worse, they prove me wrong. So now it's grind, grind, grind, no pay out, start again.

Ok, it is quite clear Trion just wants to tank this game to get out of it's contract, there is no other explanation for it.
