There's a chance that Destiny will eventually come to PC, just not at launch.
""So when I'm playtesting and I'm trying to play PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, that's a lot of work. Adding another thing on there is just crazy. It's crazy to think of right now," said design lead Lars Bakken. "I think four platforms on day one is a lot, considering we've been a one platform team for a very long time," added Bungie COO Pete Parsons.
However, both men stressed that Bungie is a studio of around 500 people, and obviously a lot of them are PC gamers themselves. "What is also true is that, as you might imagine, we're all hardcore PC players ... So we care a lot about the PC," said Parsons. He didn't rule out the possibility of a PC version later on down the line - just definitely not at launch."

I was referring to the development of future consoles. There's a lot of speculation that Microsoft in particular may discontinue development of console technology because of the belief that a significant portion of the demographic may shift play time away from consoles to tablets over the next few years. There's already a significant shared demographic between the two groups. If I have to choose between dividing my play time between my PC and my tablet versus my PC and my Xbox I'm going to end up doing the former and I don't really have the time to play on all three platforms. I've been playing Awesomenauts on my Surface which has pretty much killed my console playtime for the past few months.
I don't know if it will be the last or maybe a shift in what consoles are currently, to be more open. Valve is pushing hard to get their steam machine consoles out this year. Dell signed a deal with Microsoft recently that included the use of Xbox patents, though nothing may come of it there is a lot of speculation.
I love my PC and have a pretty good gaming rig but I also really like the consoles because they are closed off. Depending on how it goes I may be disappointed in what comes after PS4 and XBone. Currently they have less problems with hackers, the shelf life is longer and the games just work. I recently bought Velvet Assassin from steam because it was 99 cents and it crashed starting it. I had to hunt down the issue on the internet to find a legacy physix driver. The older I get I hate trouble shooting PC issues even more. If I just bought it on my 360 it would have worked fine and could probably have paid the same price used.
Consoles are dead...not.
PS4 and even the XBOX1 have sold more than their previous models on launch day, they are dead...right.
And being the last gen very similar to a PC in hardware making the development of games much easier, yeah i guess that consoles are really dying.
Consoles are so doomed that even Steam made a new console that is in fact a PC never the less a CONSOLE.
The millions of people that have consoles don`t care of what people say about this.
I don`t have time to play in mobiles, last time i played a game in a mobile was that snake game in an old Nokia i had. I even gave my PSP to a little one because i like to play at home in my sofa or in my bed, were ever i feel confortable.
Cosoles are dead or doomed to be dead...lol
I don't really understand why consoles are still so popular, besides the new games that come out exclusively for them. The arguments I keep hearing from my friends about PS and Xbox always involves comparing whatever features they have to a PC's anyway.
I've had the same laptop for 8 years and its not a special gaming one either, I've seen the prices for some Alienware laptops and cringe. Is there more to a consoles' popularity than pricetag, game choices and hype?
If you've ever worked in PC support, you'll be very much aware of why so many people prefer consoles to PCs (and you'll no doubt wish that a few more people would use consoles too).
This, when the first question you always have to ask is "Is it plugged in?" you know they'd never be able to figure out drivers and patches. I used to do alot more PC gaming but all that crap was such a hassle. In short, the reason you'd get a console over a pc, convenience.
Too bad the advent of online consoles has added the whole patch, release being beta problem to consoles. That used to be a pc only thing and was another reason I switched. Looks like the new consoles have that even worse too. I miss cartridges, make sure the game is actually finished BEFORE distribution, then the gamer just plugs it in and goes... Strange how foreign that is now.
Indeed the whole convenience thing is out of the picture. You still have to install game/download patches etc. And as for PC being complicated that is a myth, sure if you got an crossfire AMD let just say 4870x2 .. point made. That was horrible but it was doable to run games at good performance. Games require some tweaking here and there, moving files adding libraries to correct directory so it will work as it should. It all sounds so profound, it is not. And the advantages from the modding communitues (bearīs pit Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 f.e.) well it is worth a bit of hassle.
No I mean the ergonomics of being able to sit on a bed or a couch or a floor in anyway you feel comfortable while playing a game. I've played games lying on my back with my head hanging off the edge of my sofa (it helped during the fight in The Last of Us where you have to fight while trapped in a snare trap :p ). There's also the fact that you can play side by side with friend or family member in the same room, on the same machine and on the same screen. There isn't a PC in existence where you can do that.
Ah i see, i have comfy-chair and i do not have TV so yeah. And yes you can wireless keyboard and mouse and an projector and several massive high end graphic cards (for upscaling) to 12kx8k and you can play sitting 70 m from the cinema canvas/cloth. You cant do that with consoles xD
As for party games you may have a point but that is not problem of an medium but that such games are not made for PC on regular basis, there are some, which brings us back to exclusives.
Thanks Deunan, I almost forgot about couch co-op!
I've worked in PC support and it does make you want everyone on a console, but lets forget that.
The reason I'm a console gamer (for the most part) and will remain so is couch co-op. Nothing better than sitting next to your friend (or wife or gf) and playing a game together. Every new Halo game my friend and I won't play any other mode till we beat co-op legendary.
but, but :(

not my setup.
When we had the time my girlfriend and I used to play Skyrim 'competitively', Defiance and anything else on Steam together all the time from our sofa, we used f310 logitech gamepads and we both had flat screens before moving in together so we used those.
I mean for the most part now a days nearly everyone who has enough time and money for luxuries spends them on a personal or family PC, personal or family TV, and personal smart phone or other mobile device. I mean if everyone already owns a PC then why spend more cash on a console, besides the games that come out exclusively for them, you can get the same experience from something you already have.
I used to own an Xbox before I got my laptop but my Xbox **** the bed after a few years of using it, my laptop has already lasted almost three times as long. I did my homework on my laptop, I still do work reports on it, its mobile and I can use it where ever without needing to drag a TV with me.
My thoughts exactly and the companies just want to cash in, consoles have been out for so long that now when new games come out they do so for most of them, for example Destiny is launching on 4 consoles. When I go drinking with my friends to catch up on the past few weeks, we always start talking about video games, they always try coercing me to but whatever console and then they always start arguing about which console is better while just comparing the consoles' features to a PC's.
If its just for the exclusive games then good for you console people, you know what you like and you know how to get it, but in my opinion its just wasted cash for me. The only time my friends and I played with more than 2 people on a console was during Halo Parties for 8 vs 8 matches, nothing like 16 dudes in a basement getting wasted playing video games.
I'd pack my Xbox, load up the TV, make sure I brought enough big and small controllers with their dongles, and try to make room for 3 friends and all the beer so we can hunt and kill each other all night. It was like camping except I don't think anyone got a rifle slapped out of their hands when they got a triple kill while hunting.
;)Halo Parties:cool:
Remembering the old days.....
What the heck is this thread about?
No Sharknados!

Not really, people who plays in consoles don`t really care about the Master Race.
We play because it`s fun and we like to play. When we plug our consoles we just want t play, we are not worried of how many fps the game runs, we don`t have to worry about instaling drivers to keep the performance of the PC.
We don`t need to worry about 6 months later having to change the GPU because you can`t run the game that you want to play at max specs.
And the need to upgrade RAM and because you changed some parts of the PC, then you also might need to change the Power supply of your PC...
We console peasents don`t worry with that stuff, we turn on the power of our machines and we pretty much are ready to play.
In consoles, we don`t deal with complicated numbers and pseudo technical mumbo jumbo, we deal exclusively with fun and pleasure of playing.
We leave the hard things for you (the PC players) to feel superior.
we are quite happy in playing in outdated machines.
Consoles are from hell, but there hope, I shook off the shackles of consolehood years ago, and you can to.
You know I'm just poking fun right?
I Had a PC and a console till I just couldn't afford both. PC won. Thing is, do you read the news? The way it sound this may be the last generation of consoles; not saying PCs are doing real good right now ether. It seems tablets{?} and cable boxes{?} are taking over the online games industry as well as home games.
The technology is changing faster then I can keep up.
I understand what you are saying Manstan, i do. When that happens i`ll opt for the solution that fits best my needs.
But, i bought my PS4 for €399 and i will not spend a cent more in hardware for some years to come, can i say the same about a PC!? Can i buy a PC now for 400 euros and 7 years later be playing games without having to spend money in it, in lets say from 2 to 2 years !?
Please, be honest in that answer.
And you might say that if we build our own machine it`s possible to spend the same and have better specs but the truth is that not all of us have access to hardware at the prices that you get them in the states.
There are components of PC hardware that by itself are more expensive than a PS4. You can also say that i can buy them online, yes it`s true but every thing that i buy online from another country is subjected to taxes upon entering my country so i would not be saving money at all.
Well i do not care about master race too, since i dont have infinte budget to keep everything at the top. I have fairly old rig and it is still better than Xbone or PS4. Well yeah got 1kW power supply. I do not care about 60fps/120fps either as i am one of the few who cant find difference between 34 and 60+. However modding is the true power beyond PC gaming. And ofc. pirates.
Skyrim. On PS3 or and Xbox(not sure if they can mod the game, i would guess they could because the hardware architecture of 360 is basically just an PC in a box with more specialized OS/however still Microsoft so just cut down windows). On PC it is still an good looking interesting game with variety beyond anything the original Devs could come with.
I have a 14 year old comp that I can go online with right now and game. And not 14 year old games, new browser games. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if I could play this on it.
But you are missing the point, I have the option to upgrade my comp, you can't upgrade that console. And yes in 7 years you will be playing 7 year old games, where as in 7 years I will be play new games.
I do things on this comp a console can only dream of. And I didn't buy a comp to play games, but I play games on my comp.

I would've upgraded my PC for gaming a long time ago if someone would've told me that I could be playing 'Barbie's Halloween Dress Up' instead of other games...
