Share Loadouts (Testing Tool from Defiance Data)

Okay I've just thrown together a tool quickly this evening over on Defiance Data. I'd like some feedback on it for the future improvements.

With this tool you can:

• Select a primary and secondary weapon
• Select a Power
• Select 9 Perks
• Share links through URLs
• See a results page

To get started:

• Visit the page: http://www.defiancedata.com/loadouts.php
• Enter a name for the loadout
• Select a weapon type, and then a weapon model for primary and secondary
• Select a power
• Select some perks
• Click Generate URL
• You can then either copy from the generated boxes or click View Generated Page

Things that I could possibly improve and do:

• Shields
• Grenades
• Spikes
• Stims
• Nano effects on weapons
• Synergies on weapons
• Image generation for easier forum sharing

Let me know what you guys think, what you like about it, what you'd like to see.

okay, just tried it, it didn't show the secondary weapon

Thank you for testing, I found the problem and fixed it. Secondary weapons show now :)

I find any thing that one can share their build is very useful, when asking for help or for what to use in some situations.

not sure if a additional of adding a section for adding 'use' description would be needed, I guess one could just add that type comments about the build in the forum along with the link

Thanks, and yes a description would make sense for the page, or a generated image. However the way I currently show the data is all through the URL and that has a limit really to what is acceptable, it's rather long as it is. What I might do is store the build on DD and then shorten the link allowing much longer text.

Do you mean with the page or just dont use it in WM fights? :p

wow . ..lol . . guess you saw a WM Build there (that's not right){which was that} ;)
guess ya have inspected a few players in the WM's Room/Fight

on a side not, I have in the past switched my power, but forgot to swap Perks .. I have ran with something close to that (with some of the perks):o

Thanks, and with any localisation question I have to view the effort it would take to developer vs the people who would use it. My stats over the last week say that only 3.4% of my site viewers are German.

To make the tool work for them I'd have to duplicate my perks database and write out every perk and level again in the language and I don't think we can justify it yet.

(It might be a valid point that my non-English numbers are low because the site is in English :p)

Do you mean the calculator from Defiance Central? That is completely out of date afaik.

To go with the updated Shields page, you can now select a shield in your loadout. Do you think it's important to show the shield bonus i.e. Regenerator?

My self I would like that. I also have no problems without it, I could just type in the bonus in the topic, when I post such loadout links

I use Blast'em - Loadout on Defiance Data, when fighting clowns while in the Hilton , the shield has the Blastproof Bonus, there are some very close quarters, and the added protection from my own Blast. . . and yada yada yada Grenades, blah blah . . .

so either way I can live with

I'm sold on the idea, I'll add it soon :)

I love the idea of this being able to slap it on a forum post instead of listing everything individually...

The only issue I think will come, is how to incorporate 7th Legion Synergy with guns and Shields... Since the shield will affect the Build, its just already a little confusing how to incorporate it (mostly due to me not having DLC and seeing how directly works vs me trying to figure it out)... make sense? I hope so.

And i also think Shields, Stims, Spikes, and Nades should be in 1 section all together (but i think it will be when its all sid and done).


...Looking forward to using this very soon for Dawn Patrol.

Added a new Spikes page, which allows me to now allow Spikes in the Loadouts.
