I should mention, the sort of RPer you're referring to isn't quite the same thing that I was talking about in terms of "elite rpers". You're describing more of the hardcore RPer crowd. And you're right, if you're focused on an specific in character drama, I can understand ignoring others who have no interest in participating. This of course tends to annoy some of the non-rp crowd which is a failing on their part to understand that sort of playstyle. Really the best way to deal with it is to just ignore them and move on.
However the "Elite RPer" that I was talking about are the sort who try to enforce their RP vision on everyone else. Essentially everyone who doesn't play the game their way, and subscribe to their opinions and mythos, are seen as clearly being stupid and immature and incapable of playing the game the "proper" way. And they're not shy about telling you when you're playing the game wrong. Even if you are an RPer yourself they will not hesitate to tell you that your RP is wrong.
Yes there are actually people like that. And again, the best way to deal with them is to just ignore them and move on.
