I should mention, the sort of RPer you're referring to isn't quite the same thing that I was talking about in terms of "elite rpers". You're describing more of the hardcore RPer crowd. And you're right, if you're focused on an specific in character drama, I can understand ignoring others who have no interest in participating. This of course tends to annoy some of the non-rp crowd which is a failing on their part to understand that sort of playstyle. Really the best way to deal with it is to just ignore them and move on.

However the "Elite RPer" that I was talking about are the sort who try to enforce their RP vision on everyone else. Essentially everyone who doesn't play the game their way, and subscribe to their opinions and mythos, are seen as clearly being stupid and immature and incapable of playing the game the "proper" way. And they're not shy about telling you when you're playing the game wrong. Even if you are an RPer yourself they will not hesitate to tell you that your RP is wrong.

Yes there are actually people like that. And again, the best way to deal with them is to just ignore them and move on.

To be honest, I do not see these kind of people as Elitist Roleplayers, I see them as failed Human beings, but that's my view, I'm not one for complete ignorance and I don't think any one is entitled to Enforce their views.

This is why I use "Elite RPer" in quotes.

Sorry, I did not catch wind of that, so tell me Caios, what do you seek in this game RP wise?

What do I seek in this game? A cool environment to RP in. That's all you really need.

I also look forward to making use of the lore behind the game and the show, and I'm really excited about the possibilities in how my character in game will affect the show and visa-versa. However at the end of the day, all you need for good RP is a bunch of other cool player characters to interact with. That's the best way to develop your own character, which to me is at the core of good roleplaying.

to be honest i only scaned the other post. but it seems like there is this freakin huge imaginalry line forming petween PC users and COnsole (namely 306 get mentioned alot)..... um is there an honest to god real reason for this? i mean TRION and SYFI are trying to bring gamers together why are we finding reasons to tear eachother apart.... could we atleast wait for the game to comeout then make our characters before we start going for eachother LOL had to mention this.

but back to the topic. I agree they way the game is designed especially the way it is intergrated with a tv show. they say the game interacts with the show... and if yo are looking at as marketing stratagy. people who just level and grind eventually loose intrest in the game and go to the next one. RPs tend to stay alot longer due to the friendships that they made in the game and honestly there is no set RP role with this game. the main idea of Defiance is starting the world anew and makeing or finding you place in it. But again the warrig over pc and console could be perfice it would seem the Castithan and Irathient dont get allong to well..lol

like i said with the way it designed no matter what your play style is the game is going ot be some form of RP.

EDIT: i know there are alot of typos and misspellings in there.

Yah, depending on my mood I can sound like a ton of different things. Most of them being Gnomes and Ogres.

Yah I am a Gnogre IRL.

Yah, I do get annoyed with the people who can't think outside the box when it comes to RP. ((see my Character story on the RP Background thread, totally out of the box while still fitting in the lore that is given.))

I hope this game can learn a lesson from the Hard Core RP-PVP servers in WOW, Realms like Emerald Dream which have strong communities that work in harmony with plenty of PVP/Raiding and xxQTllawlCOWXX names with hard core Role-players mixed in. The blending of the cultures there is something that can easily happen in a game like this.

Or hanging out with RP'rs while I sit back and drink Rum and Cokes, typing in every now and again. It's how I RP'ed in COH, it's what I do with my insane Gnome Warlock Kompressor. Of course this is because I have a bad case of dyslexia and most Role-players tend to be grammar Godwins. (most of my posts go through 2 spell checks before I hit 'submit'.)

Hell my roommate wasn't born speaking English and speaks and spells better English than me a native speaker who can not even get it right 50% of the times. :p
