Talking choices make the game fell a lot smaller. No one wants that. we want a open world filled with code hunting and story lines. Every faction has a story to tell as i see it. The AI has a story and a past. (like halo 1 ). The Scrappers have a story to tell. (like Boarder lands 1). The EGO powers have stories TOO tell. (like black ops 2). The Codes have stories to tell. (like in star gate destiny or the stargate). There is so many ways you your self can expand this world by just thinking. If you want mass effect style multiple plot endings then is another one that could happen for achievements and things..
Hey Guys
Happy to see there is going to be a RP community here. Makes me want to buy the game even more. :D
I once heard it said that "symbolic reasoning" is the most significant differential between animal and sentient being. The ability to see a sword where in actuality you have a tree branch is what gives us the edge over this planet's other inhabitants. So RPing is a great tool and a facet (in some small way) of every game. Some do it consciously and others subconsciously.
No matter what your personal position is let's just try to all get along. That is main "theme" of Defiance. Community.
Personally, I like to immerse myself in a game's lore and get lost in the escapist nature of the new "world." I do so in my own ways though. I see some things as dos and some as don'ts but I keep my gaming preferences to myself unless something another player does truly impedes me from getting things done on the utility side of the game . Let's figure out how to make everyone happy (as mutually equitable) as possible.
All I mean is that roleplay shouldn't come before the actual mechanics of what a game is. An (obviously extreme) example would be for one member of a group to actually get the other members of his/her group killed simply because he/she spent the duration of a battle typing out roleplay stuff and not actively participating in the battle.
I have had this happen on both FFXI and FFXIV before and it just makes playing so not fun when people do this sort of thing. I love roleplay and have little negative to say against it, but the people who put it above the performance of their group just turn a good thing into an ugly experience. What one player does when soloing affects only he/she. What one player does in a party affects the whole party. Sometimes one player really can cause all of the effort of a group to be for naught.
It's like I said, if you can RP and function as you are intended to then do it. If not then either don't group with people or simply wait to RP til you're not in battle.
(Note: I don't intend any offense. Sometimes my wording just sounds offensive. Apologies in advance.)
I wouldn't be adverse to giving ep a try on the console.. Might take me a while to get started never really played in that way before. Feel free to send me friends requests on Xbox
IMO (hi new here btw!) I think the RP'ers that I know of anyway are very cautious of investing themselves into something that they aren't very aware of, which is fair enough I'd say. Until I see Defiance in action I can't honestly tell you if I'd love it or hate it, from both sides of the coin. Do I like the idea and concept? HELL YES but if I'm not invested I won't be interested. I honestly believe that if Defiance (the TV show) works AND they cater for RP'ers in the game eventually then we'll have every "weirdo" (as it was so eloquently put) clambering at the doors.
I love Halo and loved Halo 4. But way they treat people in the Halo Waypoint forums is just plain wrong. I would be flamed and personally attacked there by certain people and no matter how many times I reported them they would never get banned or reprimanded.
It is obvious the mods allow their "friends" to say and do whatever they want there and allow everyone else to suffer.
The one mod there Snickerdoodle is plain horrible. She cries and bans people if they say something she does not like. It does NOT have to be against forum rules. She uses personal judgment and does what she wants.
Very poor mod.
All that did was turn me from being a current and future Halo customer to a new and happy Defiance customer.
Their loss is Defiance's gain.
I definitely intend on RPing if I can get into a like-minded clan!
Though, for me, RP is not always about IC interaction with other folks, it's also about immersing myself into their world too. ^_^ Of course, I still like me some PvP and PvE!
