Weapon Question

As we all know, I'm playing around with T2 lockboxes.. and I finally started getting some OJ's from them. I got this one, and I'm wonder.. is that mastery worth keeping?

VOT Longshot Cannon

+1 mag
.4 full damage radius
1.05x damage
10% Ego recharge on full reload
.5 full damage radius

Mastery Bonus: 1.25x velocity

I have yet to see that mastery bonus on a weapon before, and I know the rocket launchers took a HUGE nerf after launch, but I really like this one. Can anyone tell me exactly what the velocity is supposed to do? Does it add to damage or just get the round there faster? Is it worth keeping on a weapon with an already exceedingly fast round?

The round goes faster I believe.

Oj roll for rocket velocity goes x2.00.

I never seen or heard of a master bonus grant 1.25x velocity. That's pretty new to me.

That's what I got on it.. was new to me too. I'm thinking of resetting it.. not sure if it's worth keeping, even if it did master up really fast.

Might be an initial purp roll.

Anyways, velocity reduces travel time. Most noticeable on Volge BR's.

If the round fires really fast already then yeah reroll it I guess.

Velocity has been in-game for a while. I have a double velocity grenade launcher, shoots so dam far you don't even see where it lands.

x1.25 velocity doesn't have a huge effect on rockets since they already travel fairly fast. The x2 orange roll has a much more noticeable effect.

I do however like that mastery on a grenade launcher. x2 makes them a little hard to control, whereas x1.25 allows you to reach farther targets while still having good accuracy at close range.

I absolutely love velocity rolls. My thunderer has gotten one (x2) and that makes it twice as useful, not kidding!

Velocity is always a good roll on a rocket launcher. I personally would keep it.

Long shots have the fastest projectiles and the extra speed from that mastery roll is noticeable. I tested velocity using two purple long shots a few months back and the one with extra velocity from the mastery was quicker. If you find yourself firing it long distance a lot you will want to keep that roll, maybe as a secondary weapon to a detonator on your explosive load out.

All rocket launchers are best used when firing on groups of targets and using explosive perks so you may want to try for "10% damage to multiple targets" mastery but I would probably keep it as my long distance explosive weapon.
