Can I do the co-op maps solo?

I've seen this a couple times in PC-NA, someone was asking others to join, they'll solo it, and we would be welcome to run along, I took up that , and join . . mainly so I have time to look for data recorders, and not feel like I'm slowing any one down, it was a win-win for me.
I still needed the kill count from that Co-op, to complete that Pursuit, which I actually got doing a Arena , I wasn't aware they were connected like that, till it happened
