I enjoy the game and would purchase it again. Is it the best game ever made? I wouldn't go that far, but I am enjoying myself.

It could definitely take a bit of additional polish, but as it stands I think I will definitely get my $60 worth out of it. Hell, if anything it should only get better, since I imagine the're got to be some pressure to keep the game alive for the sake of the show tie-in. That would translate to patches, ideally. (Would be nice to see some sense of community implemented, maybe?)
I don't know what the deal is with the people who are acting like it's a catastrophe (Yes, the UI/menu and chat really suck). It makes me ask myself just how much hype they bought into, and if that might be an issue they need to tackle themselves.
I enjoy the game. Having said that I do have some gripes:
1: It's far too easy and suffers from balance issues due to it. (Healing specs = pointless when there is no significance of death.)
2: My girlfriend has been stuck patching for two days, and I'm patiently waiting for her.
3: As previously mentioned, the chat system is horrible. Outside of Arkfalls/PvP Defiance feels like a solo game with optional co-op.
4: I can't seem to play in 120hz.
5: Missing some preorder stuff, but I assume that will get sorted.
For all its faults, I feel like buying the game is supporting the show. Besides, I have nothing else to play until the DayZ standalone comes out.
Absolutely no regrets. Had a ton of fun in the Beta and having a ton of fun with the finished product. (PS3)
I love the game, I am enjoying it very much! Probably one of my favorite games I have played in a very long time. Props to Trion, and SOOOO EXCITED FOR TV SHOW!!!
At least you get to game after your daughter goes to sleep. She doesn't want me playing if she is even in the house, so I'm limited to Saturdays when she goes to her mom's house.
I honestly think she's jealous of gaming, but a friend I play online with specifically. Playing with him on the beta is what set her off last week so bad.
I really love the game! I'm enjoying every single bit of it!
I'd say I'm pretty happy with my purchase so far. I've been enjoying playing the game and having a lot of fun with it. It's not exactly state of the art or anything, especially on PC, but its fun despite that. While I've played MMOs before, this is my first shooter MMO and its been interesting, sort of like an online, third person Fallout 3 which is basically what I was hoping for. Can't wait to see what they do when the show starts airing, I hope that turns out well.
If I could get past the patcher problems (not resuming, REALLY?), I'm sure it'd be great. But after spending five days trying to download and dealing with support over this patcher BS I can't help feeling a bit let down.
Worth every penny; and no second thought's at the end of the day, loving it!
Yes, I am happy with my purchase. So much so that I bought some Bits on top of it. I've not had any technical glitches like some others have had, so I've been lucky but yes there are a few things that annoy me (like game not remembering new keybinds and turning off auto joined voice chat in PvP affecting text chat too, and so on). They have to fix those and some other things to keep my business in the long haul no matter how good content is. It's my first shooter so some of my happiness is the learning experience and burning in new twitch responses! But I also enjoy the many things to pursue in the way of game content, and that it is available both by grouping and solo. I like the tie in with the Scyfy show. If they don't do things to drive me away then I'll surely be playing and buying in a year. After I get satiated with PvE it is PvP that I'll be doing more for the fun of it than anything else, so I'll see how it is in 6 months to a year!
Glad I bought it, I rarely have luck with not being in a minority of people that have some weird error or problem at an MMO's launch (I've just come to accept and ignore it at this point) and Defiance is no exception with the Settings crash issue but what I usually base whether or not my purchase was good on is if despite all the issues the game core gameplay is still fun, and to me it very much is.
I know by nature games in this genre are works in progress, even after release, and I don't mind waiting on bug fixes so as long as they deliver on the content and keep things interesting. As long as they do that, I'll keep logging in.
games fun
even considering to buy it for the 360 to play with a friend. I bought for PC before finding out he bought it on xbox.
glad I bought it. Really looking forward to working on my character more.
Game is fun but the graphics are bloody awful on xbox. Worse than I thought they would be TBH. lots of tearing and low rez textures.
I feel like I started this little trend but the game is good. I didn't go into it with super high expectations but I still think things need to be fixed/added. Great game none the less. I do not regret purchasing it on PSN at all.
I'm happy with what I bought
If I knew the things I know now, I would not have bought the digital deluxe, but the normal package instead.
Having a blast.
Happy I bought the game, I am sure I will play it for a while.
Should of brought Bioshock Infinte. (No offence Trion.)
Extremely pleased with my purchase on ps3 things for me have been running very smooth... minus voice chat not working and random disconnects that's the only issues
The game itself is pretty fun. By my god, the broken chat/voip ******** whatever the hell kind of excuse for a communication system that is pisses me off
Also as a PC player the UI is crap.
I'm happy overall with the game soooo far! However, in hindsight, I think I would've been just fine with the regular edition ($60) rather than the Collectors ($100) that I got. All the things that I got with the Collector’s edition I was not worth the extra $40, and that could've went towards bits for better stuff.
So for anyone reading this that didn't get the game yet, please consider this.
Again, overall I like the game, it's just seems to not be a totally polished finished product that has been worked on for 5yrs. Feels more like 1-2 years.
I like the game its fun.
But it does feel like they have missed the mark a few places. My arc hunter goes from place to place killing mutants, oh I love to kill mutants but that's all I seem to do. Occasionally I may have to protect or heal someone but on the whole I kill. Do I need to watch the TV show to find out what is going on? I take it the show will have a community and a mayor and interesting characters and not just Nolan driving down a road killing stuff.
And that's where it feels the game has missed the mark slightly, as a shooter its fun but as an MMO while its nice to have people with me to do missions they aren't really part of the game. The link to the TV show and this brave new world is hard to find other than a few recognisable faces. I even checked the intel to see if I was missing anything and turns out not so much.
I figured that ^^^ Too much money for the UE. Glad I resisted that.
Enjoying it, good stuff so far :)
Love it even bought bits, and ive never paid in any game for micro transactions before, I have 600h in Gw2 great game, but wont give them a cent cause there cash shop is useless.
Honestly, the game is incredibly bland for a release. If this was a early beta or alpha, it might be ok. It's just too mediocre, and while it isn't "bad", it has a very long way to go to actually be good. If any review site manages to give it more then a 5 or 6 rating, they are lying to themselves.
I'm very happy. But there are certainly some things that need to be fixed. Lag isn't an issue anymore for me, but next up definitely seems to be the massive FPS drop during arkfalls. It's awful and makes killing enemies that much harder. The sound also cuts out after awhile too, making it so I can only hear my gun sounds and the one enemy that I'm shooting at.
I'm having fun so far, but if the item system is this flat on purpose and it's not going to be fixed, then I'm not sure how much replay value it will have between seasons of the TV show. The missions are fun, but I just don't see the point in grinding for items if they're going to be essentially the same as the ones I already have.
I'm reserving judgment until we hear something definitive, but we were given an official response that specifically said that this was going to change before launch, and I'm starting to wonder if we were misled regarding a fundamental part of the game design.
Very happy!
Great purchase.
Very happy with my purchase now I just wish I had more energy nowadays to play it. Always feeling like I need to take a nap.
I am crashing a lot. and I feel like I am playing a "polished" version of Earthrise. Normally I could care less about launch issues. But, This is Trion. In my opinion, up till two days ago, they set the bar for how a launch should be with their amazing RIFT launch. I don't feel like I am playing a Trion game. I feel like I am playing a Sony game. I'm let down with them and my opinion has drastically changed.
:(
Is everyone forgetting that the game is tied to the TV series which hasn't even aired yet? It seems to me that it has to start off slow until the show airs, at which point we can begin affecting the world which is what I think the whole point is, we can change the world we play in as well as the world we watch evolve on TV. It's a new concept, it's going to take time for it to get off the ground.
I think for a subscription free game; it's great.
I don't get overly anxious when new MMOs are released because the first initial month is me facepalming every time I visit the forums because someone is whinging on about how something they expected didn't happen.
It's happened with literally every MMO I've played thus far; you can't please everyone.
That being said:
I've never been a fan of shooters until this game...and well, Goldeneye on the N64 lol. I love the music, enjoy the pacing and events. For me, the distraction of this game is worth $60, considering I'll have it to play as long as they have a game server.
I'm happy I got it. The last stage of the major Arkfalls are still a bit laggy - it's tough to kill the big bugs when they lag away and the clock is ticking. But I'm certain that will be fixed...only day 2. Once the DLCs come and the map opens more I'm sure it will provide lasting enjoyment.
Enjoying it a lot at the minute, graphics aren't too great but SweetFX helped that :p
