I'm not happy, but game is ok. Just found out "Deluxe" is Trion's version of "crap" (talking about costume color)

I wish I kept my 60 bucks! I am really unhappy with the current state of the game!

This game should never have been released in it's current state. It's far from ready!
I also don't understand why they had to rush it out on 2nd of April and not delayed it until end next week, couple days before TV Show launch?

Then they had at least two more weeks to iron out some of the major issues that should not be in a live game! Like a not working chat system, No loot from Major events (Arkfalls), etc, etc.

Even though I have not purchased the game yet, Id like to point out two things:
    1. If anyone remembers WoW's release -- early Vanilla, it was insanely buggy and a pretty poor launch. Granted, the MMO market is more diluted and expectations have thus changed over the last 8+ years, but WoW did OK after a terrible launch.
    2. Every MMO release is not without problems. I cannot think of one. Patience. The most successful to date is GW2 who had a HUGE botting problem early on which destroyed the market for precursors and whatnot.

This is not uncommon and is not a game killer. Trion has a good track record.

The deadline was so that the show characters could be involved in the game and tell the story prior to them leaving for Defiance so they really couldn't use those two weeks.

Pretty much. I've tried that argument before, but she just thinks I'm replacing her with gaming. It really got a lot worse now that our son's getting a little older and is actually running around the house now.

And I'm completely satisfied with my game. I've had no issues at all and am thoroughly enjoying it. ;)

    Completely worth my $60.

You can't compare today's market with the time WoW launched!

WoW's launch was bad, due to overwhelming sales numbers and having not enough servers to keep up with demand!
So they litterly suddenly had to build New data centers, order huge amounts of New servers... something that cannot be done overnight.
So they had to work with what they had at that time and buy servers and bandwith from various datacenters to fullfill the demand, which also took time.... hence why they stopped sales of WoW for several weeks!

Completely different and much more understandable situation.

Today the MMO market is completely saturated and First day(s) impressions are KEY!
If they are bad! Which they are right now! The game will not recover and be doomed into niche! People will leave and not come back anymore. Again due to the fully saturated MMO market of today.

TRION botched it up big time with this game! A difference of night and day compared to how they handled launch of RIFT... which went smooth as hell!

I like the game, no it's not the best Shooter in the world or a normal MMO but a mix of both. I play PLanetside 2 and thats very cool but has its issues also and I have beta tested Firefall and that isn't grate. I'll stick with this, and ride it out, Trion will make this work.

Went into it with the mindset I was buying a Saints Row/Borderlands style game rather than a "true" MMORPG and couldn't be happier. There are issues and teething troubles certainly, but I have no regrets about my purchase. Already gotten far more with my money than I thought I would have.

Im playing it on PS3 and the glitches i can live with for now as it should get all fixed in time.
I have not had many issues so far and as for connecting think i had to wait like half an hour at most to get on when it launched.
But as this is a MMO they are always going to improve it so that does not put me off playing it as a lot of people are ranting about.
Overall im loving it, its a fun shooter and what i expected it to be like. I am more of a First person shooter than an MMO player so cant really compare it to others. But should be good seeing how this game develops and hope they give us lots of free content before we have to start paying for DLC.

yes WoW launched 7 years ago and the market is full of MMOs now, but even the all powerful Blizzard Entertainment has shown that launching an online game is still hard to do, just look at Diablo 3 and EAs Sincity launch they both had massive fails on launch.

I knew what I was buying, a less deep mmo that exchanged a full feature set for more action and a third person shooter gimmick

I'm enjoying myself, I don't think the game will ever blow me away, but it's a fun diversion and something I can pop in and out of as I enjoy the TV show.

Maybe Trion wil prove me wrong and some beefy updates will flesh it out a bit more and make it a more permanent fixture in my gaming time. Overall it's a few patches from being what it should have been released as, but I get they had to drop it beofre the show started and that probably cut a few key features.

It is trion, they have a good track record of fast content release, so hopefully it all squares away in the long run.

Otherwise it's a fun little romp once you turn off the music and stop hearing that lame repetitive combat track.

Not really. Was actually expecting more, but am willing to wait for more to come.
The biggest gripe I have with it is lack of proper communication tools and childish, arcade style of moving and driving. And I don't think those two things will improve.

Happy I bought the game? Yep... what I regret is getting right into it the last couple of nights. What I regret is apply my ark hunter bonuses right away. What I regret is applying my pre-order code to my account right away. I should have just kept a basic character, poked around for a week... THEN applied everything to it... with these outages comming in late evening/early night/late night for me, that's the time I have where I can play... seems so does most of the rest of the universe ... and so I get dumped out and loose another day of the boosts.... that's the only regret I have.

i have no regrets about purchasing the game at all. i like it alot. ive got 20hrs in and havent touched alot of content. thats good, very good. i have a very long list of what i think is good about this game from gameplay style to the large world with plenty to do.

i do however am tired of the gaming community and their petty whining. honestly, its gotten out of hand. gamers claim they want something different and when they get it whine its not like every other shooter or every other mmo. give me a break.

outside of the refresh issue preventing players from playing, most of the issues ive seen use as a base to bash on this game are minor at best. chat, UI, music bug all little things. do they take away from the game as a whole? to some perhaps, but they are in no way devastatingly horrible.

so many issues are user errors and i hate to see games get blamed for fail players.(i cant log in cuz im trying to put my cd key in the authenticator rage)

all in all the state of the game isnt as bad as the negative feedback would suggest. it does have some issues, and feedback to get it fixed is necessary, but the nerd rage could be left aside.

added: i would like to see either the platforms come together and be playable with one another OR make the pc version more pc friendly. i get that the pc version is set up to keep the playing field as level as possible. but if we arent going to be put into same servers with consoles how about optimizing it a bit then.

Running around in your ATV and doing ark falls is pretty fun. But overall, I have no idea why I would continue playing this over Firefall. Same concept, better for PC users.

The customer service is horrid. Didn't get a reply to my ticket in over a day, very reassuring for a new game. No post or announcement saying, "OK, we know about the pre-order codes problems and will let you know as soon as we have a solution". It would have taken a representative about 15 seconds to acknowledge and would have eased the minds of so many. Why is it so hard to communicate with your customers when you have forums?! What are their plans with the game? What content can I expect to be released? Also what is the season DLC? It has absolutely no description and yet you can buy it. I found out the launch time from a post by a user, although rep had said something in some thread in Xbox forums. ANNOUNCEMENT FORUMS, USE IT!!

UI is clumsy. Having to turn off voice every time I re-log starts becoming a pain. Still haven't figured out how the chat works. I used the /help and it said I could use /team to talk to group and it didn't do anything when I used it. The UI is not intuitive, things you expect to work don't, even log out requires you to press ESC and then hold space...I mean really? Without a proper tutorial GOOD LUCK. Stuff just doesn't have an explanation or tutorial or even a description. I don't mind trying to figure out hidden stuff in the world but trying to figure out my own UI is not something I would like to waste my time on. Took me 2 days to figure out why I couldn't delete/sell my starter items. Would have never guessed the loadouts defaulting my items, without finding it out on the forums.

As far as the launch goes I think that was as smooth a launch as can be expected. Its a huge stress to servers and they don't want to have more servers than they need just after launch.

    Worth it.
Loving the game so far. There are issues, but this is nothing compared to most of the launches with which I've been involved. This kind of stuff always happens. The only thing I'm curious about is just how quickly they will add content, but only time will tell. Right now, completely worth it. :D

Personally I have mixed feelings about my purchase. I was expecting there to be a decent improvement over the beta, yet there wasn't at all really. Graphics are slightly better which is about what I expected, but I thought the map would be a lot bigger and was hoping the customization of characters would be a bit more improved. The customization is just pathetic for this game, and the prices Trion is charging for their special currency is immensely over priced. If I wanted to just buy a hat I'd have to spend $10 USD as $5 USD only gets you 400 of the special game currency and hats are like 550 of the special currency. (Sorry I don't recall what its actually called in game) Chat channels are pretty worthless as well. I decided to get this game over another game, and am starting to feel like it was a big mistake.

In terms of value Defiance is not a bad purchase.

It is not competing with a single player game or a movie though, its competing with other multi-player games. Many of which are using a free to play model and offering better content. I could say League of Legends with around 2000 games played (for me) of 25 mins each is 830 hours for free. The question is for 60 bucks what is it offering over Warframe, Firefall or the like?

I'm on the 360 and so far I've been bugged during my tutorial ending in deleting the character and re-starting, then after completing the tutorial I got booted from the server.
From that point on I've had no issues, everything has been gravy and enjoyed myself. I very much intend to do the same again tonight, sans bugs and re-creating my character that is.
No doubt I'll experience issues down the road but I can understand it taking a short amount of time to iron some stuff out.

I agree w you. I 've a console 360. I move to it cause was tired of all the adjustments of PC. Now it' all comming back. The game at this point is not so great. I played games for many yrs, too many hassle, cannt play when want to., but when it's servers or bugs let me. Sorry, guys...I will keep on playing cause will loose money. If in less than a month I will trade it, if not fixed.

Yes. I am sure I am not alone in that sentiment. Trion has impressed me before. I've played Rift since Beta and if there is one thing Trion worlds is good at its updates and patches. these "problems" we are all having are minor blips in the radar, small hiccups that are mostly irrelevant. We all know how good this game could be, so lets stay posi and kill some motherlovin bugs!

i have to say more than anything, ive seen the positive remarks about RIFT. i never really got into it. but after seeing all the posts about how maintained it is im considering giving it a shot. i got a free copy of the expansion from STEAM and planned on trading it. but im reconsidering now. also, i had no doubt that Trion would fix any and all issues in this game, but posts like these makes me feel even more confident.

Honestly i love the game, some things need patching but then again its a new MMO. Name one MMO that had a 100% working order game in its first 30 days. But thats why i picked this game up. For one they need to start bringing more MMO's to the microsoft/sony market, why should the PC players have all the fun? And its Trion..when i first got into RIFT the game was a blast and i loved it. But like all new MMO's it had lots of bugs that Trion fixed within 30 days of the game launch. They are good about fixing any issues the players have in a short time. I play this game with my wife and 7 good friends of mine and we could not be anymore happy with what we got. Plus the xbox fan market have been wanting a game like this for a long time now, and its not like we are going to get anything better if not just as good as this game. So stop crying about bugs and whatnot, Its a new MMO and its not going to be perfect from day one. Even world of Warcrap had a bumby/buged out launch.

That's good to hear, as I was most worried about its performance on the 360 than any other system. While I'd never buy one due to personal reasons, (Not fanboyism related), It would be horrible for the game in general if one system failed to perform well as that would hurt the community overall not just one system. The bigger the player base the better chance of the longevity of this game.
Overall I don't really see to many issues with the game in regards to performance, but am dissapointed with the lack of customization and poor implementation of certain features.

I'll let you know when I'm actually able to play for 5 minutes outside of the tutorial. As of right now this is one of the worst releases I've ever played. First time I have been unable to actually play the game at all. I can deal with bugs, glitches, lag, and any other issues this game throws at you, but honestly the fact that I'm not even able to play the game is starting to get to me. Other than that the 5 minutes it takes to play the tutorial were ok for the first 4 times I did it.

Same thing happened to me on PC on launch day and I haven't had ANY problems since!! Mainly I guess I haven't seen the notices in chat when they were going to take the server down for 30min and those have messed me up a bit, but that is something I need to work on as far as watching chat. ANYWAY, this game is everything it advertised, and I'm REALLY enjoying it!!!
