What will effect the tv series?
The game can effect the tv series right? If so is there a certain platform that will effect the tv series more? Like will pc effect it more then console or vice versa? I was trying to get them to answer it on the live stream but they didn't :( Me and some of my friends are wondering this. I do not know if you all are allowed to talk about that or not but if you are me and I would say a lot more people would like to know.

it is possible they recorded multi outcomes for certain portions of an episode that may be determined by in game popular choices, however in my opinion it is more likely for the TV show to effect the game more.

I think, the TV show will impact the game while it is on the air, then, in the months after Season 1, before they start filming season 2 there will be some events in the game that will impact what happens on the show.

Again this is all speculation, however one of the "Making of Defiance" documentaries on Youtube mentions my above comment.

No, they did not film mulstiple scene as that would cost too much. A generic scifi tv episode costs like $1 million so having to film several of the same scenes over and over would bankrupt them.

The only way it could work is to film ONE outcome and then make it seem like we did something to change the outcome. So even if no one completes the missions that come up, the show will still stay the same.

Actually they could build into each episode blank segments that as the release point gets near would then be taped and edited with the information about recent changes on the west coast. It could be as simple as background news broadcasts, some conversations in the background...what ever. But they would only need to tape a single scene close to launch with the related information, not multiple scenes as suggested.

couple of rumours iv heard (not sure how true) is some of our characters might feature in the tv show (obviously future series they havnt recorded yet.) more cameo role then speaking im guessing. but i wouldnt be to surprised if this really takes off them running competitions to voice animatee versions of our selves.

the tv will effect our game definatly, again i dont know but probly things like a major invasion by someone or major ark fall, that happens to us in game at the same time as the tv show.

the only way they can make the game effect the tv show is as as itISLupus said, but it may be small things like we defeat an event which gives us a new tech, which they feature on the show

No, as I said having such a large and open schedule would bankrupt them. There really is no conceivable (and cheap) means to accomplish that, what with the hundreds of variations and the fact that people would become enraged that their characters exploits were not reflected on screen. TV fans are among the most..."passionate" of fans and as such should have NO say whatsoever in the story.

thats what i mean by it will probly be minor things. like in game we discover (pur guess) through scripted events a new weapon if we defeat a boss. of course this would take a week or 2 to filter across the country so wouldnt appear in the tv show a week or to anyway.

its common practise for tv shows to shoot 2 or 3 endings or variations of scenes occasionally one to throw of spoiler addicts and 2 because they havnt decided themselves.

and its not hard to write ambigous dialoge "we have found x weapon" that could mean WE the gamers or WE the tv characters. even tho we lost the event and didnt get it. doesnt mean they simply shoot a scene changing it to "people in alaska have found x weapon" rather then SF bay.

but we just have to wait and see
