It's completely luck, the second lockbox I bought since starting the game was one with 2 oranges inside. The only reason I'm trying the others now is because of posts like this, but I feel like I should just save up and buy the T4s. Even if they don't give a rare every time, and you get less items for more, usually they are better. (Blue+) I get enough greens from.. everything else in the entire game. I haven't seen anything but grenades and shields on Arkfall events, I'm almost at EGO 1000 now and I have not been rewarded with anything but shields and grenades, from completing the event, destroying crystals, or from the creatures. I was told that's just how it is. I've only found blues from other drops, like in Co-Op maps, maybe 1 blue per 100 green/white.
I don't need more loot, I need to be able to find the items I want. I have over 100K salvage pieces from deleting all the random garbage everything rewards me with. My opinion, just buy the T4, take the better chances, have patience. You can get green/blue/purple from everything else apparently, but only lockboxes drop orange items, from what I've experienced, so why not take the higher % instead of more loot you can get anywhere. The last T3 I bought gave me all greens, very disappointing. I'll play with it some more and see how it turns out.
Sadly there isn't any real way to communicate/trade on this game, so I ended up selling all of the oranges I found, I didn't like the weapons but I would have been happier trading, or even giving them away.
Does anyone know about attachments, can you find legendary? Are lockboxes the only place to get good ones? I've found like 3 blues since I've started, not for the guns I want to use, of course. I've found a handful of greens but mostly the normal white ones.
Oh and here is a chart I found on another thread about drop rates... I have no idea how 'concrete' it is.

I've only ever won oranges from Tier 4. I did a week long thing where I only bought Tier 3 after hearing that the rates work out to be better since 3 lockboxes VS 1, so after an entire week of it, bought two tier 4's and bam, two oranges.
From my point of view ure a lucky man. I finished main quest around ego 600 and then only grinded Keycodes, every bit of Archsalvage was going in to Keycodes to. I think i opened over 50 tier4 and 50 tier3 and not got any legendary. It is possible that this game has a bad RNG (Random Number Generator) that is based on some think on the line of the Charakter or Account Name and bugged like many thinks here.Quote:

Got 1 orange after opening 14 tier4 lockboxes (since I came back) and about 3 epics in total. then I swapped to Tier3 and I got 3 oranges and more epics, mainly due I'm able to buy more lockboxes thus increasing my changes.
