Phantom Promotions

On numerous occasions people in my clan have received a phantom promotion; that is, receiving a promotion while nobody is playing that has the ability to promote. Most cases are Officers to Leaders. What is even more frustrating is that, as the Founder, I do not have the ability to demote them unless they are online.

I cannot begin to describe how much conflict this is causing in the clan. This has been going on for many months and I must say that I am getting tired of being confronted by angry people.

Oh wow this is gotta get fixed and as a leader of Cerebral Assassinz I also can't demote or promote at alot of times. Please fix for us Trion we love this game we have been here through all the so called game breaking patches and we are still here so please make it so we can promote and demote without the player being online.

Our clan has co-founders. One of them can promote/demote/kick people whether they are online or not. When he passes foundership to the other, he can't do any of that unless people are online. They pass foundership back and forth every month, and same thing every time.

It's kinda of a PITA, as we'd like to be able to kick clanmates that no longer play the game at all - especially newcomers that play a couple hundred ego levels and then vanish. Once a month goes by and a new player doesn't come back we want to kick them. And we CAN'T.

I'm going to PM Phantasie about this and see if we can't get some straight answers.

Are'nt there more pressing issues in the game that need fixing. You sound like children crying over a toy. (Founder) i had it first.....Waaaaa....waaaaaa. The game is dying and your worried because players were promoted in your clans? Leave Trion and the community alone with your petty, self absorved little issues. There are more important things in-game to worry about. Besides if you have to say you are in charge......you're really not.

You obviously have no idea what it is like to manage a clan of this size. Their points are more then valid.

I know there are more problems to worry about but this issue is really causing alot of upset clannies, and we address issues very quickly to help avoid them further getting out of hand it is a team work game after all.

This seems like a legitimate issue, not children crying over toys; if people were randomly promoted in our clan, that could be a big problem. I see many other threads for you to troll, not sure why you picked this one.

The game is losing players everyday. There are major bugs to fix. Your clan numbers are inflated by non players, you said it yourself. Soon you wont have to worry about it. This game is driving players away. But your complaint is petty considering the major bugs. I personally like a clan with many leaders and voices, not one high on the horse, tyrant.

We have many leaders in the clan and as far as the bugs that need to be fixed they have been here since day one and we have all learned to overlook a lot of them but when the bugs start affecting problems in clans that to me needs fixed because that would result in more players leaving and also affect friends on game and make its way to other games so yes its a very big deal.

Petty? What now? I'm sure you have better things to do. Rest assured none of us would have you in our clans.

I encountered this bug when I made a 2nd and 3rd toon. The only fix I found to work was to have all my alt toons as leaders. Once I did this all of my founder options returned. Hope this helps.

1. Yes, there are more pressing issues in this game that need fixing. I have been playing since day 1 and I can assure you that Trion is well aware of the problems as people report them over and over again. This is a relatively new issue. If nobody reports it to Trion, they have no way of knowing.
2. I understand that you see me as a child crying over a toy but rest assured I gave up toys long ago unless you count the PS3 as a toy (which it pretty much is). Look at the category that this post was entered into: PS3 Bugs and Issues. Hmmmm, seems to me that something not working in the game is an issue. Thus, I have the right to report the issue. If they did not want people reporting then they would not have this category.
3. The game is dying? People have been saying that since June of 2013 and the game still has players. PS3 went F2P last week and I can tell you for a fact that my clan alone has recruited 20-30 people in just the last few days once our voice chat was fixed.

Not sure what kind of logic you are using there but I am pretty sure there are no statistics or empirical evidence to support that line of reasoning. When I say that I am the Founder, I am merely establishing my position to TRION, and not to anyone else. If you seriously doubt that I am the one in charge, just look at all the responses to this thread that are supporting me.

Now that I have answered your comments/statements, I have a few of my own.

1. Have you ever been the Founder of an active clan of over 200 people? By active, I mean within the last 40 days. This time last year my clan was 1000+ but mostly inactive people. I weeded through them and ended up with 70+ active members by Oct/Nov last year. Christmas brought an influx and we have been growing ever since. Sure we get many people who play for a month or more and drop out but I update our roster every week and kick out the members that have been inactive for 40 days.
2. What is your EGO and how long have you been playing this game? I have two 5000+ EGO toons. My second (and main) toon is 5686 and has not even faced Nim yet. "What?" you are saying. That's right, she has yet to finish her story line. That, fellow forums member, is because I dedicate the majority of my time dealing with the needs of my clan. This game has a very SOCIAL element to it. Being part of a clan, if one chooses to, is part of that social experience. There are even pursuits that involve being in a clan.
3. Do you know how hard it is to run a large clan? When I am logged in, I am lucky to get my daily contracts done. Most nights I never get more than one or two done. I also maintain our own website, forums, Facebook page and have several toons as storage units for new clan members to access better weapons. I am constantly receiving private chat requests, group invites, friend requests, and I can average anywhere from 15-35 PSN messages a night. Can you say the same?
4. Are you the one that has to deal with MY irate clan members when they feel that they have been overlooked for a promotion? A Founder is only as good as his/her Officers and Leaders. If they are not happy, I am not happy. Phantom promotions have caused major rift in our clan on several occasions to the point of people leaving the clan.
5. Have you ever been harassed, sexually harassed, experienced a man pleasuring himself while in a group, or had someone publicly wishing physical harm (death) upon you while playing this game? Chances are that you have not. I am a female, married with 2 children and I foster parent 2 children as well. I am also disabled and no, I do not have a life because of my physical disability. My clan is part of my extended family. I have put up with a lot in this game and I remain playing because of my relationship with my clan. If I feel that there is something that is effecting our relationship, I believe that I have every right to point it out just like I did when voice chat did not work for 9 days. How will this game get any better if the company does not know that there are any issues?

First off, ive been playing since day one. My ego is 5800. I belong to a big clan. Everybody gets promoted after showing thier worth, either by helping clanmates or recruiting new members. Sorry to hear about the disability, you sound like a nice person. Anybody who raises children should be respected.My point was not to troll you, but out of frustration for this broken, unplayable, mess of a game, i find your complaint to be an issue that you submit a ticket for. Insulting each other may be fun, but boring. Id never join a clan controlled by a Founder, a clan uses each other to survive. It sounds to me that you have too much on your plate, id promote others to leaders and pass off some of those duties you complained about. But, i suspect you like the burden, as does any control freak. Did you ever think that someone inside your clan may be promoting others to tick you off. I have seen that happen quite a few times, you may have inside sabotage. I do know you do not have to be online at same time as person being promoted is, when individual signs on he may get a random message stating such a promotion. And No, ive never had a man pleasure himself in clan chat, but i find the fact that you have disturbing......but funny but in a weird way. Yes this console gaming is playing with toys, but there is nothing wrong with that. Try to lighten the load a bit, recruit some leaders who you trust, and ease off the throttle just a bit. You might actually see that this game is in a death spin. Trion's just trying to suck as much cash out of F2P noobs before the game implodes. They dont care for us vetrans, the more they run off, the more noobs they can reign in. So, goodnight, see you in the Destiny World soon. Wow you sound like a whole different person with that last post and I just wanted to add that when destiny does come out I will still be playing defiance half of the time so half destiny half defiance. I always will have that love for defiance. I beta tested destiny while I liked it it just wasn't defiance felt heavy and small but it was beta after all, and our clan is going there as well.

Our founder tried this last night and it didn't help. Therefore - this issue is DESPERATE to be addressed. We have a number of things to be worked out over the next 3 weeks. But then again...wouldn't be any bigger of a mess than The Company has helped us make anyway.

P.S. Please do not allow our alledged troll to continue derailing this thread. No need to prove anything to that guy, he's probably not even on PS3 and if he is, then who is he? Funny how I know the others posting here but NOT HIM...

I submitted a ticket before posting on the forums. The purpose of the post is to see if other people are experiencing same issues or if it is solely an isolated issue. Appears to be happening to others as well. If nobody speaks up, nothing gets looked at.

I am not a control freak (well, maybe sometimes but not always). I have plenty of Leaders and Officers - 22 in total. They all do what they have to do but it is the clan members that I have a tough time convincing them that I am the last person to go to. I am not complaining about those other things, I quite enjoy doing them or else I would not do them. Like I said, we are like a family. Oh, and why does everyone want a piece of me? I guess this sounds egotistical, but I am a good Leader. I am well-respected by my clanmates and I respect them as well. As corny as this may sound, I often post how much I appreciate them all, how they are all special, etc. etc. Perhaps it is the Mother Hen thing but that's the way I roll. Thing is, I am telling the truth. Respect is the way to go.

Perhaps I do have my head in the sand about the demise of this game. If it folds, it will be a sad day for me but, like Sericks said, we are also moving into Destiny with 35 members already. See you there!
