"Hacking" Mystery Solved (I think)

Two nights ago I entered into Waterfront with a clanmate. Everything was going smoothly when all of a sudden we were both getting slaughtered by one person. The kill cam showed him on the docks with a shotgun. We were both nowhere near him and yet we were immediately dead upon spawn, no matter where we were. All the while, he was using the shotgun until he switched to a pistol. We were convinced we had a hacker. WRONG!!

Last night I was playing Defiance when all of a sudden my clan chat told me that I was offline. This has happened to me once before and what this does is immediately cuts off any kind of communication in the game (other than zone chat for some strange reason) and disables the ability to use the quick menu.

Since my clan is working on leveling up our PVP, I joined Waterfront. What I experienced when the game thought I was offline mimicked the experience I had the previous night, except this time I was the assassin. My team mates were hanging in the air and the opposite team was either stuck in the ground or fixed in one spot. All I did was run back and forth and kill them.

Haavikk, you posted in another thread that you thought this was a hack: "Team mates stuck in the air at the beginning of the match and they stay there the whole time. But the ones using the hacks are getting the most kills and evedentily their game works just fine". I did too but I now know that there is something seriously wrong with the mechanics of the game.

I don't know if this is common across all platforms but I play on PS3. What follows is a video that I took when I thought I was experiencing a hacker and when I became "the hacker". Reminder: the game thought I was offline.

I'm going to bump this. It is happening too much in pvp. Somebody needs to look into it.

This explains how I died 5 times in a row at my spawn point in observatory the other day. Thank you for explaining. However, if they haven't fixed the invisi glitch I doubt they will fix this either. :/

Go on, try to suprise me with the bugs of Defiance, dats a challenge :)

post it in the bug reports section. Hopefully then, they will actually have a clue of what we are talking about.

Bug: as long as player doesn't log out, they have a 100% chance of legendary weapons.

Still wouldn't suprise me, considering everyone who completed Tarr familys weekly the first day got a legendary shield wich was not intended and hotfixed shortly after release :)

*facepalm* This has happened to me before, I thought it was hackers.

There is a bug who can provide you invicibility and perma cloack, it has nothing to do with your shield, weapons or perks but I will not tell more about it.

PS: this is not a troll

This has happened to me several times lately.
I will join a match and none of my team is moving. They are stuck in place at the start. I can see them die and I can even roam the map, capture points, etc., but I cannot see any of the other team and they can see me because I am killed. The camera always shows the opponent in their starting area.

Now for a second question?
I finished what I thought was a shady Freight yard last night. When all was said and done one guy had 70 kills and 6 deaths. He/she was using a sniper rifle that you could charge and it had radiation. He/she was one-shotting everyone. I guess it is possible that they were that good, but it was the first time I saw such a high kill count.

I will say this in closing, Most of the games lately for me have been really fun as I have not seen any obvious hackers. I am giving the person last night the benefit of the doubt in Freight Yard even though it still smells fishy.

Trion does need to fix this issue.

Unfortunately we have some players on PS3 who are taking advantage of this bug. As soon as I figured out what was happening I stopped PVP for the night because it gave me an unfair advantage.

Not sure why I did not think of this in the first place - duh! Anyway, thanks for the suggestion Atticus. Done deal.

The lag is only part of it. This lag has happened to me a lot and I quit when it does so I can be fair to other players and not get cheap kills, not all people do. Some like to get easy kills.

It right now provides a convenient excuse for some of the real cheaters that are still in the game. There are still cheats being ignored like movement hacks with speed and mid air flips, aim bots, and damage hacks are still there.

So tonight we have a 400 Ego person who is taking advantage of this bug and taking us all out in all arenas over the course of the whole evening. Either he thinks he is totally badazz or he doesn't care and is taking advantage of the exploit.

It's funny how some of us feel guilty when we hit a bug. I had a team mate tell me I was invis at one point. Instead of completing the match, I logged out and logged back in. To me, it sucks all the fun out of it. To most others, they will exploit the hell out of it until it's patched.
