Does trion think defiance is dead?
I have just been playing defiance and it got quite laggy and I was shooting hellbugs with bulletproof vests on and it got me to thinking these problems with defiance don't really take a lot of fixing but for some reason trion don't do it and that again got me wondering does trion think 9/9/2014 is doomsday for defiance? lets face it THAT game does look really really really good and it does what defiance promised to do and soooo much more. Now I think as I said before defiance will make it past destiny and stake a claim for it's self, BUT does trion belive that? very interesting question, I do honestly think both games will be huge for ages but defiance really does need to fix it's issues.

We just played for about 45 minutes. Clan is gone except for 12 people who didn't even respond when I asked them where everyone else went. Used to have a TON of folks on every weekend. Hubby got bored and we logged off. :(

The game has been dead since I started playing if you go by the forums... I started on April 6th 2013 (4 days after launch)

    justified insanity
Its the same old song and dance, a game is dead. I do not believe it is, I am still having fun and so are others who I play with. Lets see what happens in the next 6 months and then you can dance away if you are correct, if not please lay of the game is dead dance until then.

So you know how to fix it? Please share your software and hardware engineering knowledge with Trion and the rest of us if you know how to fix it.

Why do it for free, though? Trion could PAY (gasp) someone to get on it. The tail is wagging the dog if the customer is supposed to repair the product.

At no point should any customer be thankful that they have a semi-functional product. If your car just up and quit on the highway every half hour or so you'd be in court if they couldn't fix it in a year and a half.

Software companies get FAR too much leeway to be complete f**k ups because they don't just have customers, they have fans. They hope their fans keep them alive when they can no longer be bothered to earn customers.

Your fans can get sick of your sh*t, too.

We'll just relax here, close enough to warm our bones by the fire, but not so close as to burn in it.

Unless this September content is particularly amazing, and they've given no indication of it being anything other than some missions and gear, then I think it's safe to assume that, yes, the game is pretty much on life support.

It's been over a year and they just haven't managed to add much substance. The biggest content addition the game has seen were the arkbreaks and SV.

But by any other MMO's standards those would be very light content additions. Almost all of the DLCs were a complete joke. Since Trick has been at the helm they've been alternating between destroying stuff we like or writing condescending posts which antagonize most of us.

I've certainly been a part of some very mismanaged MMOs before but nothing on this level.

Anyways, I'm playing Borderlands 2 and Firefall at the moment. If The Company can't get their shtako together by the end of October that'll wrap it up for me.

Have no phear. Fanboys with shtakoty arguments are hear. Server stability is an issue. Wake up.

Since the deathnerf on rewards I just log in to do my contracts. Real shame it is.

To be fair, if you used the in-game chat, they might have never seen your question. At least on the PC version, the in-game chat seems to randomly pick people for whom it won't display specific channel messages.

Not that that is much of an improvement, mind.

From my experience, Defiance might not be that much worse than others. Firefall looks decent to new players because the bar is so low (there are almost no MMORPG shooters and none have lived up to their potential), and because new players don't see how Firefall was more interesting before Red 5 decided it would be more profitable if it appealed to a more casual audience. Red 5 drew many similar complaints as Trion on their forums. (Allegedly, Red 5 later got rid of some of its more vocal complainers.)

What else is there to compare? I remember Hellgate London being a bit of a mess. It eventually went under and resurfaced as a f2p where it largely seemed to stagnate. The APB devs managed to spend all their money by the time the game launched, not bothering to budget for upkeep and maintenance fees. I don't recall APB ever really being open world either, as you really only interacted with others during missions. I remember that they were still adding some out of mission interaction after it resurfaced as a f2p. Warframe isn't open world, but I remember the devs there ignoring a net code issue for months last year, which I honestly don't know if it was ever fixed this year either.

I'm wide awake. What has this have to do with anything I posted? OP made it sound like it's a very easy fix (as if it really only required addressing one thing in the coding). Is anyone actually stupid enough to believe that it's that easy and Trion is deliberately not trying to fix the stability issues that came with free-to-play?

Trion as a company has been on life support since this game was released. You can certainly compare it to other thriving games or you can take the more realistic route and say it is a miracle any Trion games are still operating at all.

Something amazing that could happen: Defiance gets bought by EA, or Activision, or even Epic games or Yeager studios.

@ DEUNAN: yes some of the problems are very simple to fix and if they want to contact me I would be happy to help them with the networking/server issues they can even visit my company site:

    http://allanmitten.wix.com/bear-inve...services/c1h6a

Where they can employ my services as I have a lot of experience in hardware issues.

I never said the game was dead why do people never read the whole post before making lame *** comments about dancing on defiance grave as I said in my post I HOPE DEFIANCE MAKES IT AND BECOMES A GREAT GAME LIKE IT COULD BE I just wondered why trion are letting this go on and if in their heart of hearts they think its dead.

It depends on what qualifies getting their act together. If you mean make the game even come close to meeting its true potential, not a chance in hell. If you mean restoring server stability for the PC and Xbox platforms (I've pretty much given up hope that they can do this for the PS3 platform as they've had over a year to do that even before the free-to-play instability issues) and making the rewards system more worthwhile that might happen within 60 days. As for content, the money and resources are just not there to do anything fantastic.

I saw your thread in the Firefall Forum. Hope you and the 47th find the game enjoyable. You might want to read the crafting and resources forum there before investing any time towards crafting. It's kind of disappointing to read and understand what's going on with it in the game (but then again at least they have crafting in that game).
