I have switched to using only bio grenades.

True, the volge themselves are no different. The difference is the relative lack of cover and the higher than usual number of volge packed into that relatively clear area. At low ego levels where a single main blast from a vicera can take ones shield all the way down and leaves only a block or two of health that can be a problem. If two vicera happen to lock on and fire at the same time it is all over, as is getting run over by one once or twice.
The grunts are not as bad but constant fire from several of them can quickly become unsurvivable too. The arm-shaking dance they do before throwing grenades can be big help in getting shields back up if one can arrange cover from the rest.
It takes good use of the little cover that is available and sticking close to others to survive in those conditions. It is not impossible to win unless it takes a while to get back to the site after an extraction and it is literally packed shoulder to shoulder with volge (which has happened several times so far), but it is definitely a different experience between low and high ego characters.
Mutant District stage 7, 10, 12 etc....
I remember running these sieges when they were first introduced. I think I was around 1800 EGO. After learning their "tells" and movements I succeeded in becoming one of the consistent top 3 on every board. With the new scoring system, I rarely break top 10 in these events. Mainly because I'm not worried about my score. I'm concerned with completing the event. A majority of the top 15 scorers are because of BMG use. Add a damage score, and I guarantee that they may have higher scores, but their damage score would round out the bottom of the list.
Cover is nice but not necessary to defeat the volge. Being elusive. Constantly moving. Hitting crit spots. Knowing which to get rid of. This is what it takes to beat them. Using proper weapons, shields and perks. Makes Volge dead.
