    Marketplace / Microtransactions
Seems like information about the business model is starting to trickle out. I pretty sure it is all but confirmed that this game will have microtransaction. Boosters are almost guaranteed, but any word on whether weapons and equipment will be sold as well?

This will be a potential money pit for me if the prices are reasonable.

B2P + shop, most definitely. I wouldnt want to drop sub fee off yet, theres quite many MMOs what offers optional sub ( TSW, SWTOR, Planetside 2 etc. ) and only thing they said "No suscription required" it doesnt mean it isnt there.

Also I'd imagine they sell weapons/armors too, at least somekind of rocket launcher was part of the bonuses.

I don't want to see weapons or stat providing armor sold on the store. Planetside went a tad too far with making certain items available on the store vs earning them in-game. When you give people an advantage by paying say, $5 vs the guy who is of same level or experience who pays nothing (even if just for an hour) you ruined it.

The only thing they need to do is make different armor and skins available at a cheap price. People flock to that to come up with a look they can be happy with and feel different with. If you do add weapons, they need to be the EXACT same model as what's already available, but just look different. That's it.

    I sure hope they're careful.

Best thing what SOE did was triple cash station day! Hopefully we see something like here too.

How about when the show start we celebrate it with triple "bits" day?

I will pay hard cash for a gas mask or trench coat.

    Your avatar is awesome BTW.

Hehe, thanks. I'm looking at making my main character hopefully a human that looks relatively militaristic. Maybe a combat vest and helmet, and some facial gear. I'd pay money for cosmetics all day long.

I'm against anything but apparel and boosts in the cash shop.

Now if they aren't secretly harboring the plans to release pets/followers down the lines in DLC, I wouldn't be against forking over some cash for a unique Defiance critter... or a miniature giant space hamster ;-)

If its anything like the Guild Wars 2 gem shop then it will consist of cosmetic items, boosters, inventory/bank expansion, etc. Hopefully it will not carry exclusive weapons with power stats that make this game buy to win.

I would not want anything that gives a competative edge like weapons or armor/shields from a cash shop. Then it just becomes who spends the most money wins. No gold bullets any such crap. Keep it as cosmetic items minor boosts as long as they are not damage or defense boosts.

Ohh and keep the prices reasonable. I think these shops would get a lot more use with slightly lower prices then what they want due to volume. I wouldn't mind paying a small amount for such things, but if its too high then I won't spend any extra. It has to be a value.
