To bad that's not the case dude. Every online MMO that i have played and I've played way to many over the years. They always, always have problems. Mostly during launch week and big patch or DLC updates. So this isn't anything new or something to really get all upset over. I understand that paying 60 or more depending on what version people got. You guy's need to understand if you're new to MMO's, this is a normal aspect. Hell even with the most smoothest MMO launch such as Guild Wars 2, had its flaws during its launch week. Yet after the first week of minor flaws and server disconnects. Hardly had that many issues after that. Just give it time. Plus also, the Beta is the most and honest way to help make the launch of a game go smoothly. It's there to help somewhat smooth out the launch of a game so that it doesn't have a complete disaster of a launch if you understand what i mean.

That's the problem, its never the same issues. One game may have the issue of not able to hold the amount of people, while another may have the issues of not able to connect character data with game data. It all depends on the users and the connection type. I think that the issues we're facing right now is because the game was made to be cross-platform, so the servers are somehow linked and when they decided to do a patch on one server, it leapfrogged to another causing similar issues. Give it time, and it'll be back. Maybe even have some kind of bonus (you're thinking free stuff, I'm thinking more missions)!

You would think at some point some dev would say hey lets tackle the most common issue with online play and keep it from being the norm.

Okay let me explain from a different standpoint. You know how games like let say Fallout New Vegas. It launches with tons of problems right, and a week goes by and the first update for the game gets released and fixes many issues. Well in the MMO genre. It works the same way but in a different way to an extent. While yes we have Beta's but you need to understand that the beta's are pretty much alpha version (At least when it comes to consoles and not PC) They ask for feedback and when the game launches, they release a server side patch to correct the feedback issues. Now, not all beta testers including myself as being one for the PS3 version. We all don't catch a lot of those hidden bugs or glitches that can cause the game servers to go ape sh**. It's the same thing like finding a cool glitch or bug in a Single Player game or in a Multiplayer game like COD or Assassin Creed. Expect, those games use a P2P which doesn't rely on servers to take a hit. While with an MMO the servers will see these glitches well the database to be more exact. Once the Database for the game which is the heart of the server and is what keeps the game going. If a database isn't being read right, missed placed or isn't at all in the database can cause errors on the server and can cause the server to crap out. For all we know, this could very well be the servers taking a hit due to popularity. We don't know. That's why MMO's are difficult at launches.

That's the case with every game. It sucks believe me it does to buy a game at full retail price and have the game be completely broken. It's mind boggling at times to see SP games take this hit. Yet what can you do when Publishers and Developers have a strict Deadline. Trust me, what Defiance is going through right now is nothing compared to other MMO launches I've been through.
