Transmutation

A recent MMO I played (Guild Wars 2) gave players the ability to transfer stats from one item to another. If you had an awesome looking low level sword that you wanted to keep using but the stats were obsolete at your current level then you can basically rip the stats off a higher level sword and put them on the one you wanted to keep at the cost of a transmutation stone.

Will this feature be in Defiance? From what I read we can upgrade weapons, but what if you want to keep using a weapon till max level like say the Sporeshot that comes with the preorder?

From what I understood the longer you use something the better/higher level it obtains raising the base stat. I also have seen/heard you can modify and dismantle weapons ect. So it may be possible what you are asking, but not 100% sure.

This system sounds cool, weapons that level with you, the more you use them.

I would agree with the OP though, I love being able to look really cool and have the stats I want without sacrificing the aesthetics.

They explain quite a bit about them in one of the live streams on http://www.twitch.tv/trionworlds, I think it was on the 11th? I can't remember I watch them all and get confused. But in one of them they explain how the gun leveling works and the modifications ect.

they explain that weapon KIND level up ... example you play with bolt action sniper a lot , it gonna level up overall so if your bolt action sniper are level 5 and you swap to a new alien bolt action sniper it still gonna stay level 5 ...

and the salvage matrix ( i think that how it call ) example you have a low level gun with fire bullet enchant and you get a new gun without any bullet type on it . you could take that "fire enchant" and put it on the new gun .

how would it? i mean guns would look different, and pvp guns would only be able to transmute with pvp guns etc.

Set look in PvP, while you keep the gear, your appearance changes for PvP. Something like they did in TSW, although not with DPS/Tank/Heal appearances.

I don't see a problem in PvP though even if they did allow aesthetics, they're still red doritos/names (I hope) which means I'll be shooting them! - Damn you PlanetSide 2 for changing the HUD so now my friendlies are red! The amount of team-killing...... Nightmare.

You do level up as you use weapons. You can also use the Salvage Matrix by ripping apart weapons and using the parts to add to other weapons. You can even add a sniper scope to an assault rifle.

All I meant was if the guns were to level with the player then PvP would be rather one sided after awhile, I think it's a great idea if the guns leveled with you just make it so I'm not "god"
