Map Size Estimation...

I'm having to go through hours of archived devcasts... does anyone know off hand what the size of the map will be? Bigger than Planetside 2? Smaller than Rift? Are there any retail games we can use as a comparison to safely judge the size?

I searched for this figuring it probably has been asked before... but I didn't see anything.

I saw one Twitch cast that showed the game map briefly while the guy was on an ATV. It seemed fairly large in just that section of the map which didn't even zoom back to show everything.

My paint skills are really lacking originality.

In all seriousness - I hope it's at least as big as a continent in PlanetSide 2, and I'd love no load times in the open world aside from instances (which I guess is standard for most games these days).

I don't know what to expect though, but as long as it has enough content and good PvP, I won't mind because I'll be too busy doing content.

honistly i dont think we have numbers yet, but i know its BIIIIIIGGG. they wouldnt give everyone automatic quads just to get around if it wasnt. and from the maps iv seen in vids and rough time taken to points i would say it was a decent size (this is only starting zone) i think theres more

Haha. Planetside is a decent reference and easy for people to take a look at seeing that it's free. So that's why I mentioned it. But just based on the video I saw pretty seamless transitions of areas, and a relatively large map. I too don't know what to think.

I'd like to get the feel of Fallen Earth. Where without a mount you'd want to stab the next person you saw with something rusty just out of sheer despair. FE was another that was mind numbingly huge when having to run.

So big that they had to include vehicles for us to get around. In the Shadow War live stream the icon said 1.3km i believe (took a good minute+ to ride there), and we were then told that they are only in a small fraction of the game area, so it is very big.

I'm pretty sure one of the live streams also had a glimpse of most of the map, and just the main section or as they called them "Continents" they are currently locked too is huge. But overall the map look very very large.

yeah, they mentioned exploration as a big part of th egame, so it cnat be too small.
