Not sure if I'm allowed to ask a question on here, but when he says "shared loot," does that mean a Sniper who kills from range will be at a disadvantage once the boss enemy drops loot?

Different type's of ammo/variations will depend on the weapon type and the modifications you add to it or pickup on the weapons. For example you can pickup/find a weapon with incendiary on it but you want corrosive you can use the "Salvage Matrix" to modify the weapon and change the effect.
do weapons require purchased or player made ammo, if so what are the expenses involved, eg small arms cheap, rockets hardly worth using due to cost ?
What exactly are bits? Is it another type of currency along side scrips?
What I gathered from the dev stream but it needs more clarification for sure... the loot system is still being tweaked. But, if you kill something another person shouldn't be able to run up and take your rare loot item. Some items are "shared" when you're in a group. If you're solo it appears to drop items and make them available to the people who put the effort into killing it.
At least that's my understanding but it needs to be explained better.
You can grab ammo off of the ground throughout your missions and after getting kills. As far as I could tell, you don't need to buy say, standard ammo. Rare types of ammo may end up being bought through vendors. I'm not 100% on that until I get in-game.
There are a number of "currencies". Bits I gathered were the standard dollar. Scrips I'm not entirely sure on, but it's definitely used throughout as well.
Well written Primus.
This is a great compilation of Q&A's.
Quite a read. Just letting those who want to know that you can find all this info, and more in depth looks at some of the weapons, tech, game locations, enemy factions etc on the Defiance Wiki.
