From a design standpoint, what's the rationale behind no fall damage?

    I wouldn't mind the vaguely realistic compromise where falls would not kill you but they would still damage you. Have it so that any fall that would normally kill you leaves you with like 1 HP. This would make it something to avoid but not always insta-kill you. I've played several games that used this as their fall damage mechanic and it worked out pretty well.

    Never really had falling damage impact my fun in APB. In fact, there were "talents" you coud choose that allowed you to reduce the amount of damage you took from falls. That could have easilly been included in the EGO grid.

    Some of you are posting this is what the majority wants. Please cite the Defiance development poll? Or are you just assuming the majority wants what you want?

    Seriously, if falling damage is all it would take to get you to walk away from this game, you're hanging by a thread already. What does that say about how much you like the game? I would prefer the developers not design around such fairweather customers.

    Idk about you but i like jumping down from a huge hieght into a fight its just fun

    Not saying that wouldn't be fun. Just implying that being able to do that is not very realistic. *shrugs*

    Yea but were also teleporting with decoys moving incredibly fast and fight huge monsterous bugs this game isnt built around realism.
    But i understand the fall damage feature and why you would want it. I atleast want it in pvp.

    You have alien nanotech in you, you can go invisible, can send out a hologram, aliens have come to earth, etc etc and you are talking about "realistic"

    Sure there are plenty of non-real things here and that's fine. Maybe they could have just "explained" the no-death from falling idea within the context of the game, like maybe we could get anti-grav boots or something. That way death from falling would be a threat UNTIL you mitigated it via some tech or whatever.

    #1 I love the no fall damage because it puts more focus on shooting and blowing things up. I don't have to worry about a little fall reducing my shield etc.

    #2 I love no fall damage or damage damage on my roller!
    It's such a blast to see a promising jump and just hit it full boost not caring what's on the other side.
