I feel like most people complaining never played a brand new MMO. That being said this is also a brand new MMO on Xbox. Not to manny MMO's out on xbox, eh? Servers are still funky. I remember a certain MMO on ps3 that was also largely wonkey when it first came out. People relax, read a book, watch tv. Im very addicted to this game the first day i got it i played for 6 hours straight. Its worth the wait. So deal with the shtako and calm down :)
I'm assuming, based on the majority of the idiots whining, that this is many peoples' first MMO. This is a normal staple of how MMOs run, there will be downtime because of patches. Anyone who has ever played an MMO has probably not bothered with even posting on here since this is such a normal thing. If you buy an online only game, you better expect this kind of thing to happen a lot the first few weeks after the game comes out, and then either weekly or nightly server restarts/patches as well after that.
This isn't Call of Duty with simple instanced games. These are servers that handle thousands of connections and maintain an enormous, persistent world. I don't think people have anywhere close to the level of appreciation they should have for how complex an MMO is compared to a normal game.

I am beyond pissed right now. I spent all that time updating and patching to have to freaking remove the game file and start over from scratch because I was getting the Defiance server not available critical error. This bs! $65 for a game that I can't play I am pissed! I tried to be patient and now I'm restart as if I just bought this damn game.....
