As ive said in other threads...what were they thinking? Its not like its a hard thing to do, to add bubbles and a working chat.

ever experienced planetside 2 chat? that's an mmo btw.

-People use the chat, and it's easy to do; hit enter and type. It has multiple channels for separate situations and also a large screen version if you desire.

-Chat bubbles? If people can't even see chat on their UI as you say, they won't pay attention to bubbles because they'll ignore it just as they ignore damage numbers floating on screen. And bubbles are awful looking.

-Zone chat is irrelevant and serves no positive purpose in this type of game

-People not reviving you has nothing to do with chatting and is just a surprising turn of events considering in games like GW2, you nearly always get revived. This to me is more likely
    A) Because people in these half assed MMO shooters are simply ignorant and unaware of what's happening around them e.g. they suck
    B) There's no incentive (without some perks) for them to stop and help you.

Am I right in thinking we can't even send whispers in this game? Or an in-game email or something?

Trying to find a way to get a message to someone I think I know from other games, and so far it's eluding me (the message being "are you the person I know from other games?" :p)

I just play Defiance as a coop game. Just me and a friend play together using skype as comms. We occasionally help out other people and rezz if we need to but other than that it's just borderlands with other players in "our" game now and again :P

Has anyone *ever* requested that you be forced to use them?

Why do I want to then play with people who can't shoot so well because they have chat bubbles on. Do I only allow players into my group that turn of their bubbles? And how do I know they did it and aren't lying?

How about we accept that the game doesn't need bubbles - and with a hundred bubbles going off, how can you even read them?
Look in the bottom right of the screen at the working chat window - it's not hard.

i'd like to see a chat bubble over the characters dome. i think this is most effective. right now, chat is quirky and the UI for chat is in the wrong place. in other games i see chat UI on the left side of screen. anyway, i'm sure they are working on this as we all complain. cheers!

Least social mmo I have played nowadays would be wow. Not a word by anyone in a dungeon/raid unless you wipe and then its just filled with profanity (Which is counter productive to sociality) Ofcourse you can argue that people do say something tho but in that case I woulda preferred them to stay silent.

If someone does decide to try and talk tho then the only thing that comes out of his mouth is trolly comments and nothing productive or remotely interesting.

Besides im sorta happy I wont have to listen to the "Wow was the first mmo" Comments in the ingame chat. :-P

PS: Gaming community is beginning to focus alot on individuality in west. People dont play in groups because they wanna play in groups. They do it because they get forced to, to get better gear so they can brag to everyone else who wont care anyways but just be jealous and want the same stuff too so again if I have to listen to these types of bigheaded ***** I would prefer the chat to stay as silent as it is.

Oh it's social enough, if you mean by the socialites who sit around in towns, half the time afk while telling Your Mom jokes and arguing about other games...ya plenty social.

When it comes to actually playing though, you're right there isn't much interaction. And there needn't be. MMOs (even full blown ones, for whatever defines that) are built now to where you do not require other people to progress. Furthermore, in situations that are multi person oriented, most objectives are self explanitory - and if it's that intense or serious that it requires tactics, then this is why many guilds use voice chat.

So far, not one person has given a single reason why increased chat function or a zone/global chat is necessary in Defiance.
All it has sounded like is whining by people who want to sit around and AOL chat on a video game a.k.a. social rejects...and they use the excuse that a MMO should have a minimum chat standard.

I have no idea what that standard is, yet if Warcraft is the benchmak then their point is moot for the reason(s) you've given above.

The issue(s) of voice OFF disabling chat is most likely a glitch or a mistake to be rectified later and has no bearing on whether we should have more 'accessible' chat features.

I loathe chat - I ignore and disable it at every opportunity. Yet in EVERY case where someone has typed something in Defiance, I ALWAYS see it.
