Since it is still a MMO even though with TPS / shooter attached to it. Did i miss some announcement regarding these features and why they decided to leave the two most basic features of MMOS out of the game?

It would not work with the lore? thats my only thought. rift left out banks etc for launch.
Just because every other MMO does it doesn't mean it HAS to be included, when will people understand that. It would be nice to have further down the line but right now I'm not really bothered.
Not everyone plays games to be an auction house tycoon
First page and the silly replies have already started.... ;)
LockBoxes are the trading house. Mail? blame Microsoft and Sony. If this has been built for a PC and then kludged for the consoles these things would be here.
I don't blame Triton because they were trying a new idea. They wanted everyone involved. As usually spread too thin and its all a mess.
Personally I'd love at least a bank/stash to squirrel away all the mods I don't necessarily want right now, but may do if a relevant weapon drops.
I'd also love an auction house but I'm not sure if the loot system is balanced around players being able to share so readily. As in the game would need a @@@t ton of unique loot or the auction house will be just filled with the same stuff over and over and may even hurt public opinion.
But for the record - I'd love to see both implemented in the future, but it's not a deal breaker for me personally.
Well, sadly your storage is you. As for banks well they are in Scott, Antarctica. The old gurad ones are still in Manhattan though if you can get to them.
If I am understanding you want to horde weapons so you will have the right one for the moment? As for auction house thats a long time away.
I guess they let out an auction house because of the lockbox-lotto. If everyone could sell the lockbox-drops he doesn´t need to the whole server population Trion would sell much less lockboxes, because a lot of people would buy their items from the ah.
This actually makes perfect sense.
I guess we're all happy about the lack of sub fee, but with such things comes drawbacks, and I fear this will be one of them. Trion need to protect their business model. At the end of the day the game was made to make money, and if it doesn't, then the support will end and the game will shut up shop.
Actually with an auction house you have to substantially nerf the drop rates of decent loot in order to avoid the AH being flooded with them, thereby depressing prices and trivializing loot upgrades.
Essentially the more AH, the lower the drop rates -- it's that simple.
id rather pay a sub and have a AH to be honest
im starting to hate the microtransaction system cause it aaaalways ends up to be "well you dont HAVE to buy it you COULD farm it for 2 years instead" wich is ******** and is just an excuse to greed harder
If our Storage is our Character, why can we not put stuff in the Cars and such? They seem to have a load of other rubbish on the back we could get rid of. All I'd like to do is save some Mods.
the lock boxes aren't that hard to get in game. i purchased 4 tier 4 boxes with out much thought. an AH i don't think would ruin the drop rates. i have a couple of orange shot guns i absolutely hate that i would of loved to put up on an AH so i could get a orange injector or BMG.
with trading comes problems.
1. Scammers. Sure ppl shouldnt be so stupid etc, but best way to avoid that whole mess is to just not include it. it would take time to monitor and police, and if they ignore it, thats a whole new **** storm to deal with in itself.
2. Spammers. Scrip spammers wouldnt take long to show up and that is an annoyance no one wants to deal with. then you either have to deal with player bans and chat policing. another headache and expenditure of manpower that is easily avoided.
i highly doubt their store sales has much to do with it. doesnt matter who buys the lockboxes as long as they are being bought. but they are saving money on manpower by not having to deal with the headaches trading features bring.
banks are not needed. your inventory expands where you can keep pretty much everything you need. sure there will be those who want to hoard everything but they sell more inventory slots for those people.
Sure that loads of stuff will turn up down the line, but they prioritised and had to get a good enough game running and working for the TV series launch.
IIRC they stated somewhere, possibly back on the Alpha forums or something, that they may add features like this in later but it is very low priority for them at this point. Their main priority is getting the "shooter" aspect of the game perfected, then they will look into adding more features & tools down the road.
Even single player shooters like Borderlands have stashes, both for one character and for sharing between characters. It isn't hard to add, and it adds value for the player.
I would think they could easily have a stash with a small number of slots -- say 3 or 5 -- and then have that upgradeable via the store. That is easy to do and creates no problems.
what you need to remember this game has just launched all these things can be added later. I mean they may even include crafting options for the salvage you pick up in the future, for example you choose a category like, mods, weapons, shields, grenades. and the salvage you get can be used to slowly learn how to create the technology and make items from the category you have chosen. These would be the items you would sell on the Black Market (which would be the mmo equivalent of an auction house). I mean come on if you can break items down into salvage then surely in the future you should be able to build something new with the broken down salvage.
this game is missing community aspects in general, only people I've interacted with in this game is the friends I've been playing with from before this game, and the bullet exchanges.
I'm sorry, but some of the responses to the OP are laughably ridiculous. If this game is supposed to thrive as an MMO, there has to be something to connect us outside of just randomly running past someone and maybe gunning down a few mobs with them. Not to mention even single player games that focus on loot (Borderlands for example) have banks to stash what you find. Thats just basic stuff. I have no idea what this game is trying to be or trying to accomplish but thus far its just "shoot things". Thats pretty much it. Paper thin story, shallow quests (and even more shallow sidequests which is hard to imagine till you do them), underwhelming skills, underwhelming perks, underwhelming weapons, crappy chat system, no bank, no auction house, no mail system. Im sorry but this is absolutely pathetic. The bugs and server issues this early I can forgive, but just basic MMO stuff? For the price we paid? Its ridiculous. If you want to argue about subs too take a look at Guild Wars 2. It rapes the crap out of this game and that was at launch.
The only thing I'd like to see would be a stash to send items to your other characters, just a little 5 slot box like borderlands 2 had would be nice, so we could avoid passing them to a friend and switching characters.
A bank on its own, is nice to have to some degree, but since there's no crafting loot/supplies, our personal inventory is only weapons and shields, and you can easily get 50+ inventory slots, isn't that sufficient to get several guns of each type with multiple effects?
An AH is also a nice idea, but, once you start that road, you have to balance an economy. I kind of like the fact there isn't one.
Both of these things, and perhaps crafting, could show up in the future of course, there's plenty of options down the road.
I would say the specific reason they've been left out, if not for "it's not needed", then because "let's get the core mechanics running and expand later"
Only way to do the AH is with scrip and well cash is easy enough to come by in this game. Unless players want to trade resources for gear or keycodes /shrug. To me I don't see a use for AH or a bank. Maybe mounts can add a extra 30 slots or something, the bigger the mount to more it can hold maybe up to like 100 with the big sturdy mounts like for those quest missions. The charger could add maybe 50 slots and the quad bikes add 30. Only thing I don't see in this game so far other than a mailbox which I don't really need is a freakin trash bin to delete stuff that vendors don't take or can't be resourced. Got a shield that just sits there.
check your loadouts, you might have that shield equipped on one of your builds. when a new loadout's unlocked, it copies your existing equipment settings, so if it's an older shield you were using, probably still there. can't salvage/delete/sell items if they're equipped to any loadout.
An auction house would ruin the game. It happened in Diablo 3, once you are able to buy the best weapons once the economy is saturated then it takes all the fun out of farming/looting items.
Trust me on this, it would be a detriment to most peoples gameplay... and the logevity of the game.
Example? i hit level 60, was having a blast in D3.. the loot aspect was awesome finding an upgrade... until i bought godly upgrades transformed my character and for about a week solid of farming i didnt get a single upgrade. What is there left to do?
I haven't played D3, 'cause I'm not a fan of Blizzard, but haven't they designed/tweaked bosses and future content under the assumption you'll have the best items? This will push people into either farming or buying the items, and hindering people who maybe can't take the time to farm, and don't want to buy/can't afford the items. Essentially what I'm asking is:
Does having an AH dramatically inflate the difficulty of future content?
