Game should have been free to play
Lets face it the game should have been free to play with a cash shop that they have and paid expansions that come out often. Makes the most sense to get as many people playing the game to also be able to go back and watch a tv show. Then people who watch the show can simply go and download and play the free game.

Not only that the amount of content in the game is very small even casual players are going to blow through the content in the game very quickly and only have PVP, and repeat arkfalls left to do. Its a fun game and really cool to follow story and world along with a tv show i will like but i really do think the game is going to be a ghost town pretty quick.

I almost feel as though they planned it out this way and knew they could sell a ton of copies right away and make a huge amount of money right off the bat. Then when the population starts getting low and no one is buying the game anymore they will change over to free to play and reward people who bought the game before hand with monthly rewards of some sort.

The show makes its own money, not sure what that has to do with the topic.

I'm pretty sure they've already more or less made the show already. In addition to that, I don't think Trion makes the TV-show.

as painful as it is, im inclined to agree, this HAS to be F2P to even have the slightest chance of surviving the first 6 months

    just compare this with firefall..

If they already have DLC planned to buy in April that would not go over very well. Pretty sure you will get some download content that are a few side missions here and a few story missions that may follow the tv show and some bug fixes not much else.

Why don't you wait and see what they do before moaning, you still get more play time out of this then most other games that are the same price.

Im moaning because the game will be a ghost town very quickly. I want the show and game to succeed and run for a long time because i think it will be cool to play and watch the show. An honestly i think the only way for this game to keep a large enough community is to be free to play with a cash shop and paid expansions. I honestly feel as though they are just trying to milk the box sales till that dries up and then they well quickly switch over to free to play.

I'm inclined to agree with the last part.
Their shop is a f2p model at present (including xp boosts). All they will need to do is stop charging for the game and add bonuses for boxed copies registered there-after (Tera anyone?).

If you're that much of a cheapskate to moan about the initial fee of the game on release, don't play it.

They're using a F2P Scheme much like GW2 and it works great

Once again not crying about paying for the game or anything i could care less about the price. GW2 can use the Buy to play (not F2P) because it has a very large amount of people playing the game this does not and will die off quickly. GW2 has a lot more content then this game and keeps people playing.

This has alot of players on 3 systems it probably matches close to GW2. It will not die off quickly at all, just because you don't like the game doesn't mean it will die off.

I have no problem paying £27 for Defiance on the PC. Ive already gotten more play time out of it than I do most AAA releases these days. Most of which have about 6 hours solo play then all they have left is multiplayer pvp too.

I wonder about what is in the drinking water these days (besides fluoride). Who said DLC was coming out on April 15th. No one. It's a major patch that is coming, not DLC. DLC is later.

that's why they sell advertising and hope the show becomes a hit, so they can then ask for more advertising dollars.

It's frustrating to read random people on the internet try to be volunteer executive producers for a video game.

If you really feel so strongly, then pay a building full of people $40,000 a year salaries for several years to develop a game and then give that game away totally free. It'll be your money, so you can do what you want with it.

There's a reason why Trion is a successful gaming studio and you're a random dude with a keyboard and an internet connection. Sorry if that comes off as mean, but is it worse for you to sound so entitled or for me to call you out on sounding entitled?
