Does anyone use a mic anymore?

So I've been playing since day one, and always with my mic on. I've been to major and minor arch falls, and hot spots with other players all around me.. Not once have I heard a single voice in my ear. is voice chat broken or am I supposed to pull up the keyboard and type messages(not going to happen by the way):confused:

Also... when I'm downed, and hoping for someone to revive me, I cant even pull up the quick menu to shout out for help... seems a little pointless to have the shout out for helm me if it can't be used when you need help most. Just saying.

There's no proximity-based VoIP. Just for party and clan chat, I think.

yeah i am always in party chat

When I get to play, I'll most of the time use my mic, but only because I play with a friend. He insists on XBL party chat though, so I'm not sure how well Defiance handles the chat natively.

They should at least have the option to turn this on or off... Would be nice to tell someone who is running the same quest as you, but not grouped with, to give you a hand or start a conversation that could lead to a possible team up..

As another poster stated, there is no in game voice chat. You can't talk to people that are near you on the mic, you can only interact by typing in the Chat Menu. So no one can hear you talking, and you can't hear them, unless you're in an XBOX Live Party with them.

I agree with this statement, however, until they get the major server problems addressed this should take a side car to fix.
Area Voice would improve the community and co-op play in this game.

I honestly think that's a huge design flaw for console players.. Who in the heat of a battle going to fool around with a clumsy virtual keyboard to type something out while being killed in the process.. I really hope they choose to patch this.

Ok I agree with you, fix the major problems first, then address this... I hope that they fix it though at some point.

I have not seen this done on any PC MMO so far, so I can only imagine that doing it over XBOX live with our crappy consoles and such would be a huge pain.
