IS it just me or is this really short?
Ok so there is one spoiler but I will mark it so feel free to skip.

I just finished what I believe is the main quest line and it only took me 8 hours. That would be normal for a single player game but is very short for an MMO am I missing something or when you go to *SPOILER* vos's base and kill him*SPOILER* is that really then end. All I have to do to get my remaining 4.7k Ego is pvp and side missions?
I have done about 10 major arcfalls along the way and some minor ones also so I didn't just power through.

Also is there really only 5 Coop mission?

With the lack of gear progression it just seems that I have a huge grind to get 5000 ego and for not allot of reward..

Please let me know if I have missed something here but it seems like a single player game that they have thrown on a server?

yeah you are missing the DLC's and prolly missing about a crap ton of ego in doing the goals, and all the co-op goals. but hey I could be wrong. this issn't an MMO that the main storyline is suppose to get you to the max level.

I get that there are other ways to make up your ego, What I guess I am getting at is this game seems like the ultimate in grinding. 10 hours will get you finished all the main quests a good bit of pvp and some arcfalls. you then have to go and get 10,000 heashots with a sniper rifle and shoot a billion pistol rounds to rank up and for what?

The lack of gear progression and the lack of any sort of hard endgame means that the game lacks content on quite a massive scale as far as I can work out. there are 2 pvp maps neither of them are very innovative so the pvp from what I can tell will be short lived. Releasing an mmo with 10 hours of content for full price even without a sub seems crazy.

Dont get me wrong I loved playing through the missions and am still playing arcfalls but I cant see in a weeks time me saying you know what I want to do....I want to get that last 300 head shots for some more ego that wont do anything

Its been said many times that we are in the prelude until the show launches. If you played through the episode missions and then watch the 14 minute show preview, you would immediately see how the connection works and how we will end up getting more content in regular releases. We should continue to get regular episode missions as the show progresses. I remember an interview where they mention gamers sent out to find specific materials to send to the Defiance town for some kind of project and the impact it will have on the show. Thats not in game yet because Nolan hasn't arrived at Defiance yet.

We will also be getting paid DLC content which is fine since the game is B2P.

64 vs 64 PvP, if you don't like PvP then good luck finding a mmo of any worth to play for a considerable time

You also have to remember that MMO just means that there is a coherent story to follow, not just open-world jumble. This game is a mmoTPS, it is designed as third person shooter to play with fellow players and shoot stuff, whether in PVP or PVE. This is not WOW or SWTOR, where you must grind to get XX gear or raid in YY dungeon. This game is an on-going progression of (for lack of a better word) -play-. If you must have a 'goal' in mind when playing then yes it would be to do the various side quests, hotshot, and timetrials to better you personal scores and not to mention max out your ECOlevel and satisfy the 'achievements'. IF ALL YOU SEE IS A GRINDFEST, then you my friend were raised in a time when MMO'S HAVE LET PEOPLE DOWN (which is a common occurence with them as of late).
Remember we as an online community SCREAMED for a 'different' MMO we didn't want the same ole CRAP. Trion has delivered something different, MOST DEFINATELY. Does it meld you what you wanted, maybe ... maybe not. I look at it as playing a game like Counterstrike... I can run with fellow ops (arkfalls or co-op areas) and I can compete in PVP matches. Or I can just wonder off on my own and still play the same style game but in solo-mode.
Take this explanation for what it is, my 2 scrip. And feel free not to give a schtako!

    Enjoy

Doing all side missions before main missions I just today arrived at the last mission, so it took about 20-25 hours total maybe of only missions. I get the impression they wanted everyone to finish before the show came out. If I'm right then it's a fine length for now, in my opinion.

Clearly I am doing something wrong... ego rating 640 and I haven't even finished the 'tv missions' yet....

I find it funny that the people who rush passed all the side missions turn around and complain about the games lenght when this games core quest line is more involved then most other MMo's. The only diffrence here is content isn't gated by lvl so you are able to skip all the side quest that other Mmo's basicly force you to do so that your lvl is appropriate for the next zone. This game gives you that sand box option of doing what you want when you want and yet people complain about lack of content because they didn't get held by the nose and lead from one quest to the next in a completely linear fashion much like Rift/WoW/EQ2 etc etc.. It's almost like players want to be lead around like mindless zombies instead of actually doing what they want how they want and just having fun instead of I need +1 more dmg to feel some since of accomplishment. I spent years playing SWG and other games basicly makeing my own fun. I lasted in those games far longer then the standard do this linear quest path and get to lvl 60 that current MMo's push. Finaly a game that goes the other way and the players can't seem to manage content themselves its a shame. I'm Ego 525 and I'm roughly half way through the second area's persuits and I've only done a hand full of pvp and 2 ark falls. There is a redicilous amount of content still to be done.
