I've seen it go downhill in the time i've been here a month.
Everyone used to be real friendly & helpful as well as had decent knowledge about the game. I used to post on here a lot. But then came the "Want to join Alpha, introduce yourself" thread and all these people started pouring in.

    Just for starters.

#1. I noticed a lot more bickering happening between members.
#2. Repeat post of the same exact thing already posted 6x on the front page.
#3. People calling Myll_Erik out like he is their *****. lol
    #4. All the NDA infractions.
#5. A lot of posts are off topic 5 replies into a thread.

(All bold is just minor stuff and still not very often seen, just have seen more of it then usual)

And that's only stuff i've pulled off the top of my head in a split second lol

EDIT: Just a side note, it also pisses me off a little when i see people getting Alpha invites just because they say hi, when tons of longer, moe active & beneficial users are not getting invites.

And i'm not speaking on that for myself, i don't play on PC so couldn't use an Alpha anyways.

Most forums end up off topic 5 posts in so this is typical and repeat posts are also typical. The first thing people forget how to use is a search function and NDA infractions should result in an account and any BETA bans.

Agreed. Some people may take this as i don't like new users to the forums, which is incredibly untrue. I just want them to be respectful and learn how to use the freaking search button lol

    There's a search button!?
Kidding of course, I think a lot of people are too lazy to look at older posts or maybe they just want their thread to look important or something like that. Basically I believe this is just how forums are I'm afraid. A lot of forums that I have been in are like this but I don't know if they were different or not.

I guess than a bit normal, some are new to the forum. They don't read previous threads and ask for an already answer question. But that's CM'jobs to make everyone respect rules (NDA,repeat threads,...).And yes, i understand you,but we can only be witness...
PS: And after launch it might turn to total chaos...
    :(

I really love this community so far! No idea how things will go on as time goes by, but mostly people that make a few posts are friendly enough and willing to start a nice civil discussion.

Of course there's the same kind of silly posting (of which I'm a bit guilty), trolling and NDA breaking, but the lovely people here don't tend to fuel it as much as the other forums I visit. So I have high hopes for this place as time goes by :D

I like this community as well, the only other forum community i've been involved with prior to a games release was borderlands 2, and that community was vicious. However if I get a smart*** comment saying lets say "they're not making you buy their game ya know" I will respond with as much sarcasm as I possibly can deliver, there's no need for that especially when people are trying to get answers. :)

i kinda agree on some point . maybe the thing i hate the most is the question OVER AND OVER like is it cross platform ? how much player on console? is it open world? and so much more ... it just annoy me a lot xD

it is the sign and nemesis of our time... Everyone want anything right now asap! No one will bother himself with searching or reading... it costs so much time....
But the most annoying thing for me in the most threads here is the fact, that every third player wish to get a WOW Reloaded with guns... With Chat, Noobfinder, Autoaim, Autojoin, Questtrackers from A-Z, itemspiral galore, Pets, Mounts, Rocketpacks, TAB-Aiming and 1-5 Buttonsmashing till death-.-... why canīt some people dive into something fresh and new and accept the way it is ment to be developed... and in a manner, as they simply get out of a cave last night...

This always happens to the game communities. After awhile people succumb to selfish greeds and trolling. It's like they all forget how to be human/e :P

When communities grow, groups with different ideas or behaviors contribute more often due to the sheer amount of new community members. So I agree with certain points you make, but the thing I find most off-putting is to see community members with this sort of attitude of "holier-than-thou" or "well I was here when the game/community was good" before the game is even released.

I think people in any community should spend more time finding common ground rather than complaining or pointing out the differences. Arguing with one another or treating community staff or devs is simply unacceptable.

I'm with you even if I'm still new around here. Most games will build a great foundation of a community with helpful people that get along. Then, as they do beta tests and other things, more and more people show up and start causing trouble. It's the norm that you see. Eventually most of those tools will move on because the game gets old for them. The core will fight through it.

Meh, it'll blow over. I'm here to stay myself... I got the game ordered up and I intend to play it. I'm doing the testing and will continue to stay involved.

Hi all , I'm new to the alpha forum. I have been fairly active on beta. I tend to mostly read posts or ask questions when I am desperate for help. But I always search first. I also hate reading bickering posters. Its just so unnecessary. being new its always hard to see how you will be received. I always try to be respectful and friendly. Not all of us "newbies" are rude :P Anyway I am loving this community so far. Everyone (mostly) has been really helpful and nice. cannot wait till game comes out. Mine is pre-ordered as well.

I think for one thing, repeat threads are the sign of a community growing. When new people come in, often times they won't want to look through all the previous threads to ask a particular question. while this is annoying, at least it shows more people coming onto the forum and showing interest in the game.

I kind of want to point the blame on console gamers posting on the forums. A good chunk of them are younger and aren't aware of all you listed.. perhaps?

Not saying it's all console players OR hating before someone get's butt hurt. >.>

pop into the code hunters forum. you will see the communitity is thriving in there.. Moderating the forum gets harder the more people are posting so more troll/nda breach posts get through.

Like Primus said.. the core community will out live the trolls, as for Myll_erik the code hunters call him out for hints for the code's but as far as I am aware thats all.

afterall he is the community manager and to be honest I am impressed that he can devote as much time to us as he does.. When the game goes live thats when we are going to get more people in here..

one thing about console players tho. at least we wont get 100's of questions about installing and setting up. that will be reserved for us PC players..

im sure with time we will grow to be a strong community and we will be rewarded because of it.. 120codes, better understanding of base numbers & cryptology lol..

Haha this community is very friendly. Just wait until the game comes out, that's when all the bickering, flame wars and whining about the game will start just like every other game.

I could start early if you like?

THEY NEED TO NERF [WEAPON I GOT KILLED BY]! THE [WEAPON I GOT KILLED BY] IS TOTALLY OVERPOWERED, ONLY NOOBS USE IT! I WAS USING [AWFUL WEAPON] WHEN THIS GUY RUNS UP TO ME AND ONE SHOTS ME, SO FIX THE [WEAPON I GOT KILLED BY] NOW, TRONON! Or some other misspelling of Trion. I'll also just forget to mention that I'm just terrible at the game and was killed because the other player was superior to me :p

I really can't see any of the forums current regulars being like that though, you're all nice people who are constructive in your feedback. After release when the hordes are unleashed, things might change ;)

I've seen far worse communities. I suppose the grain of salt here is the fact that many of these points will go away once more info is allowed to be public knowledge. Of course, after launch there will just be other irritations. I just try to ignore what irritates me personally, and get a laugh out of some of it.

And now this is off topic and now a bickering thread.

    xD

Also, are console players the new AOL Users?
