Why has the RNG been so poor lately? Am I the only one who's been receiving absolutely poor reward drops from anything (lockboxes, wm etc)? Like I mean the RNG was awful before but now it seems worst, what is going on with the RNG Trion?

i agree, i open 2 or 3 T4 lock boxes on my main a day. and 1 or 2 on my 2k alt. and get blue grenades...
my 6k main gets 1 or 2 purples a day, and 1 OJ every couple days.
my 2k alt, yesterday i got from 3xt2 boxes... i just wanted to re-set key count) i got purple frags, bio and pyro.... then when i opened a T4 later, i got an OJ 1 purple, 2 blues, and 100 ark forge.....
i wish i could have a new character ID for my main... get this new RNG.
Imagine going 6 rounds in an expedition and the best drop you get is a purple gun that you will never use.
The last few Lockboxes I've opened I've got 3 blue weapons. 1 purple weapon and a blue grenade.
The only events that drop legendary weapons are the siege in Chinatown the incursions at bathhouse and the
Dark Matter monolith arkfall. At least in my experience.
but some players seam to get all the luck. i have opened god knows how many T4 boxes. i only ever got 1 jackpot gun... at the last event i had 6 toons open the boxes (only got 2 on each as i was on holiday for a week) and all 12 of my jackpot guns were from HB or Purge... no solsice or plate slicer.
during all the events (across 6 characters) i got ZERO jackpot guns from arkfalls, and only got 1 OJ (heartbreaker northsar blaze) and other clan mates would comeone 1 character, to do the 1 arkfall for the day, and get a jackpot. one of our clan members got almost every jakpot gun from the events, not the weekly boxes.....
my alts get more ojs and purples then my main... ie once a month i get a purple nade to sell, and once every few i get an OJ. on my alts i get 2/3 purple a week... i open the same amount of boxes... my different chracters have different rng luck. but of course the ones getting better gear are the sub 500 ego ones.. the one i have to 2k now is starting to get nothing as well.
I figured they were doing this since they've mentioned that Rashere was working on the in-game economics. I imagine soon they will start to implement 20 - 50 dollar priced legendary guns, as all shooter freemiums tend to go that route. Still the RNG appears to being much worst lately. Sadly I know that some players will continue to make bit store purchases, I personally would too if they listed a few guns in the bit store and save me the headache and garbo experience that is RNG rewards.

They (game designers) always weight it some way.
This game is the worst in my experience when it comes to getting really good stuff but the stuff that does drop gets the job done mostly.
Just nothing to brag about, get excited about, or chase unless you have the patience of a saint.
The RNG took a huge nosedive a while back. It is beyond laughably bad now(TW will deny this). TW just wants our money, and I refuse to give them another dime until some true improvements are made(which will probably never happen so my money is safe).
I've noticed I get way more duplicates in elite boxes now and its almost always the same
Gun A: regular syn and no nano

Your lucks better than mine then as I haven't had one, those who have gotten them I'm sure have bought boxes in the bits store or farmed keys.
A recent video by a contributor to these boards shows how to do it at one location but I think that's been fixed now.
That type of farming has never been my thing and I've always relied on good old playing the game for my rewards. That though has become a thing of the past, it's got to be well over 4 weeks that I played the game for the sake of playing it.
Looks like Trions pushed this Ark hunter over the edge.

I hope TRION is getting the message, viz., keep the customer happy (because they are always right), and they will come back for more. Example, the Spinal Tap boxes--try to get good mods without spending a small fortune---NOT They are nice weapons though, they do deserve an Atta-boy for that, however, as we all know--one "ah s*&t" wipes out all the Atta-boys; and we all know that TRION has had many more "Ah s*&t's" lately than Atta-boys.
I also hope the upcoming Solstice event is worth it--maybe some T4 Spinal Tap mods, or OJ rig chips would be nice (of course you can't get an OJ rig in an Expedition without playing at least 250+ rounds first--and even then, the pickings are slim at best).
All boils down to this--loose the BOLOGNA weapons as rewards in Expeditions, increase the rate of OJ drops in Expeditions (as promised on the live stream), and fix the hard freeze issues. KEEP THE CUSTOMER HAPPY AND THEY WILL PURCHASE MORE, and your paycheck goes up, and we play longer.

I was wondering about this. When I first started playing in January I was getting decent amounts of OJ weapons (considering my absurdly low ego) but now that I'm over 4k ego (really since about 3500 or so) my luck has gotten worse. Most of the people I hear complaining about bad rng luck are higher ego players. It's interesting that those same players have better luck on their lower ego toons.
Is this deliberate? Is Trion making it more enticing for newer players by giving them sweet drops and better gear in lockboxes to keep them playing/get them hooked and then slowly decrease the rng luck rate over time/at certain ego levels once they've gotten a taste? They keep hope alive by introducing a few jackpots into the world so the "old timers" have some reason to stick around--the gambler's chance of getting that elusive gear because he thinks his luck will change at the next event--only it doesn't. The only changes are worse connections and a new item he can never get without spending money or giving all his hard earned scrip in game to a price gouging merchant. By locking event weapons so they're not tradable or sellable they're effectively driving in game scrip prices for weapons sales up. If you don't have the scrip then there's always the bit store.
I'll take off my tin foil hat now. This was just something that occurred to me while reading this thread (and remembering the many others like it) and compares my own experience to it. Food for thought.
The reason new players or vets with new toons get better RNG is so you get a bunch of low ego oj items that you will upgrade constantly by buying arkforge . Maintaining one level 500 oj to max ego will cost 1375 arkforge. It would cost roughly $55.00 us to do that per gun in bit store. Or you could grind 98.2142857 expert co-ops per gun to do it totally free.

Because of how much forge I've spent on one of my couriers I'd about be wondering if reload mastery is possible on courier if I hadn't seen it on some other couriers lol

On the RNG topic... I've heard of more than three people that pulled 6+ GA's while that was the jackpot, and me... I just pulled my first JP during chaos&order, and even played the crap outta the game during GA trying to get one of those.

So the rng is not really worst than before (but it's defly not "random"), you just want more cool stuff because you're tired of getting crap - you get crap because there's a store - and also because it's a free to play.
Bad drops = more frustration = you leave the game, you try harder, or/and you pay :

Yea the RNG is messed up right now, so much so that some dev(s) had to adjust some of it in Expeditions. Ironically nothing about the RNG outside of Expeditions once again. Also those are bundles and RNG crates you're referring to. I'm saying that soon it'll be just guns at some point, no crate no bundle just $20 to $50 dollar priced guns.

Because less blues doesn't mean more Ojs. But it's good, a blue drop at tier 30+ is a bit ridiculous !
If they want to work on a better rng, they need to work on a better loot table. Aaaand they don't want to.

If you buy a 50$ gun, well, you just have it. You don't need 60 of them, 1 is enough.
A 2$ box with a "small chance to receive a 50$ gun" is way more interesting.
since after alcatraz update and before the new "premium" elites went live, the rng on elites has been crap, always the same, 1 nanoless/backpack purp and 3 blues, sometimes after getting 10 elites u might get a crappy oj with bad rolls or backpack syn...
ojs from majors/incursion? from majors only blue crap, from incursion only bathhouse drops a oj crappy vot volge battle rifle time to timr, the rest blue/purp crap always...
ojs from wm? mostly nanoless/backpack syn crap and u get one after 10 wms...rather get purp needlers..
and btw the new roll system sucks

Actually I'm saying that their adjustments does mean better reward drops (ie less blues higher chance of OJ's). The RNG drops previously were awful, but thats the whole point of that statement, they had to adjust the RNG simply because it was terrible after 5 to 6 rounds.
A lot of freemium shooters already have this type of setup working for them and its appears to be doing absolutely fine for them, see GamersFirst (APB Reloaded)....in fact they have Joker Boxes, cost a dollar each and you have a chance to win a legendary oj gun (this more like throwing money at them though = to a slot machine). But yea anyways a lot of shooters with the free to play model end up or have already implemented gun sales, would not surprise me to see that Defiance would end up going that route too. I know if they did I wouldn't mind paying for a gun of my choice plus any other guns of various types i.e pistols, infectors etc for sale. I'm certainly not going to purchase 60 of the same gun...lol Certainly not going to purchase 60 of the same bundle either.
To my original point, RNG is terrible right now seems to have gotten much worst lately, I use to pull more purples and OJ's previously. Now, I'm lucky if I pull a purple let alone an OJ of anything. I'm not the only one who's witnessed this change though (sadly but thankfully). I thought that maybe it was just my end but it appears to be affecting others as well. Also I'm not saying the RNG was great before but it definitely seemed better before.

I actually was thinking of starting a similar thread as this one. If you would have asked me a month ago, I would have said the RNG could not possibly get worse, especially for veteran players...but it has. The horrible RNG in Expeditions is beyond belief especially in light of the time they consume. Really? Regarding lock boxes, the drops have been so bad I don't even bother to keep track of my key codes and only use them when I'm at capacity.
It has got to the point where I am seriously looking around for other games to play (and I know I am not alone here). I have loved this game and have invested serious time in it but the whole Expedition reward and RNG thing has really gotten me down. I really hope someone pays attention to this. And thanks Lithova for starting this thread.

I created this RNG batch file for drawing ticket #s for raffles, I hope others can find a use.
I always chose 1 for mini, max is the number of tickets sold, and the number of winners for "randoms generated". First # picked is 1st place, second pick 2nd place, and ect...
An issue being 1 ticket can win all prizes if super lucky.

Sorry, but if everyone keeps giving them their money they have no reason to fix anything. If you had a broken product and people knew about but keep buying it, would you change anything????? I think not.
I stopped spending money on this game a few weeks ago. I find myself at times wanting to buy something ( cause I like to spend my money) but THEY are giving m no reason to spend.
So in short, if you want things to change keep your wallet closed until they fix things. If you ( everyone who spends ) keeps giving them money, you have no reasons to complain, cause your part of the problem.
just realized this myself and have already spent more than id like to say trying to get things so until they fix there stuff I will not be spending a dime on this game
