General Concept of weapon Mastering

I Imagine since it's no leveling really, that weapons aren't level restricted, but maybe mastery restricted?

Do guns have set damage?

What is the point of mastering a weapon?

Well logically, what does weapon proficiency do any time it's present in a game? It makes you better with that weapon.

I can answer and give some insight -

Weapons levels/mastery give you small bonuses that will add up over time. Less recoil, better aim, more ammo etc - small things that just add up over time.

I would assume like other games that the proficiency just make it easier to use the weapon like faster reload maybe higher damage like borderlands i assume but i couldn't tell you with any certainty.
