Pre-Order= play now or only on weekends?

Does pre-ordering the game give you access to an ONGOING beta or just guaranteed access to the weekend events? Not looking for anyone to break any NDA's but Im trying to figure out if there is SOMETHING I can play now if I drop my hard earned cash lol.

there is no on going beta, only the special weekend events. which we dont know when the next one is.

there is an alpha but pre-order has nothing to do with that.
