How will people take the game.
How serious do you think people are going to get about Defiance?

I know small mmo's on the PC guilds get serious because they don't want members to quit among other things.

If it turns out to be a a sleeping-hit on the market do you think guild will get to a very serious level or not.

    Have you told friends?

(I'm really excited for this game :o)

I'll be playing on 360 but i hope there will be some serious guilds on it and would totally be down to join and meet new people. :)

I'm hoping it people take a more serious approach over casual. I'm sure the player base between console and PC will be different, as console gamers aren't as accustomed to MMOs. I plan on being a long-time player, as long as the player base on PS3 remains solid.

I'll be play Xbox 360 as my PC has reached it's life span(i've played plenty of MMO's) So i'm hoping this game gets both serious and casual. I'm in-between serious and casual.

I try not to compare this game to WoW because I know it's not, but I loved the progression raiding that guilds had, so I hope to some degree people do end up taking it serious, and I hope Trion adds 8-10 man raids eventually, this game has a lot of potential.

A buddy of mine and I are starting to spread the word on this game to our friends. As I have a couple of MMO's that I play on PC, I'm honestly looking forward to this game on the 360. Having an MMO on the 360 would definately give me a breather from much of the PC action that I experience!

Well there is dcuo on the ps3 and most of the players take that game very seriously. Personally I won't be taking the game seriously or casually. Because I don't play short term enough to be "casual" and i think "serious gamer" is an oxymoron. How can you be serious and have fun?(IMO)

Consiering there isnt that many premium mmo/online games I really think this does fine. I wouldnt be here otherwise if I didnt beleive in this success. But yeah its kinda hard to fight against ESO currently, ESO's hype machine is at full speed already. Actually this could be awesome game if TW adds content like they did in Rift, hopefully this time they add more content for everyone, not just for raiders.

IM so concerned though.. checked yesterday Amazon, Defiance isnt even in top 100. Hopefully they send tons tons tons tons of beta keys for open beta(s), hope people get interested and buy the game beause of the show.

i think its the million $ question trion would love to know. if im to go from past experience of majority of the market, console players tend to get bored quick. they want the newer latest thing.

i think it will make a good strong start, but then when other games comes out like new BF, COD etc the market will drop alot more suddnely with few returning after there bored of that game.

doesnt mean i dont think it will last, there will be a good few remain, i would love for it to remain strong, but history teaches us other wise.

as for pc i can see that doing what most mmos do, remain steady with a decent player base for a good long while

    Here's my thing at least.

I used to play Tabula Rasa, I play borderlands, I play numerous MMO's, but this game. This little idea they have come up with, fleshed up, and displayed before us, has had me more excited then I have been in about 3 years time. I couldnt tell you exactly what it was about the video's or the concepts of the game, or what was experienced in beta (NDA and all).

But I thankfully have a UE pre-ordered, and I have requested off 4 days from work to wake up, grab a mug of coffee, possibley have some chilled taco-bell that I bought in advance, and just go crazy in my own little world. :D

I will end up playing solo, and this game allows that. I can wake up in early mornings, crack open a window, get some coffee and grab my controller to relax from my crap job at wal-mart to enjoy technology rain. There's not many MMO's that will allow a solo player

Defiance has everything going for it and at the right time. As a console player and 10 years of Xbox, I know people are tired of the COD's and BF's. Borderlands 2 and The Walking Dead by TT were games of the year. Halo seems to be the only one that still is going strong but that game is supported not only by the community but by the devs. Players are hesitant to something new like Defiance but once it gets out and word of mouth, I believe it will remain strong. Nothing has come out like this before on the Xbox and that's what I'm telling people, be a part of it.

My gf got me black ops 2 with the season pass, and gives me hell for not playing it more often then I do.
I tried explaining that I play the zombies part, mostly cause I am not a "Competitive" type, i'm a "Cooperative" type.

I agree with this most people are getting bored with CoD and BF, this should remain with a strong player base for awhile.

All of the people who love mmo's will play this game alot, it was the same with PSU on xbox, still had a player base 3 years later.
As long as the servers are fine people will continue to play.

I wish we had more game developers like Trion, Gearbox that aren't afraid to break molds, create something different, and not play on the safe side all the time. It seems that everyone is focused on the easy money, instead of being creative and coming up with something different.

It all depends on how much dedication is needed at the end of the game, but either way i'll prob play this game alot and no doubt my 1st day will be a marathon of non stop playing.
Sadly i've come to the point where im torn between gettting it on P.c or 360 1st, i will prob get it on both but im only going to buy CE once just need to decide on what platform out of the 2 mentioned will be 1st

There are around 55 millions of Xbox live users around the world. How many of them know that Defiance is coming out on april 2nd 2013? And what is it ? On Xbox live you can watch a lots of trailers or making of about games that will come out later this year. For Defiance there is only a theme and the massive coop trailer.Hard to make people to look after Defiance .
And to back to the subject i hope gamers will play for the fun and spend a good time on it and not acting too foolish...

Ya two needs to get some more mass spectrum advertisement going. Couldn't hurt at least get some on g3. Only reason I know bout the game is from the syfy Chanel with their watch the show play the game. I have to say I'm really impressed with how dedicated trion an syfy are to making this work as best as it can. Its a good formula for things to go really right or really wrong, gonna be a interesting ride either way

howdy everyone! I'm a new member here, but have been lurking for a couple weeks... the SyFy commercials about the show and game grabbed me, so know that the ads are currently working! lol even my wife, who does not play shooters, is interested in this... I'm telling everyone I know (on the 360) about the game/show in the hopes of getting people to join a guild... I'm an old GW player, but since my PC died, I've been a console jockey... if I can get enough people to pick this up, I'm hoping to carry on the torch of our Syndicate (from the Syndicate reboot), InfectedOmen [InO] we had 30 members in our crew and as far as I'm aware, we're still in 2nd place on the 360 leader boards... that game died a quick death due to no support after release...

I've been looking around and can't find info on whether or not there will be in-game guilds/clans, or is it going to be free form within the game and people who want to have a group can, but without game recognition... anyone know? I'd love to actually carry on the name of our Syndicate into Defiance, I know at least 5 of us are going to be picking this up the second this thing hits the stores...

    sorry, I ramble... =)

I wonder when that's actually going to start?? I've seen a lot of advertising for the show and nothing about the game. If the show episodes are going to be taking some of their programming form what happens in game I'd think they would want to start advertising that as soon as possible.

That is a wrong way to think... Yes there has only been 2 mmorpgs on 360 but I for one have been beta/alpha testing since 2004.I am a huge xbox 360 player and that is what i will be playing on I feel in that case your speaking about that pc will be a flop compared to consoles in playerbase since the 360 gets a go at the mmorpg.

how ppl take this game will solely depend on the game itself.. i.e if the game is a casual fest where 99% of the content can be soloed/duoed and gained with little effort then it will be taken casually.. if theres hardcore content that that so difficulty it will take the best of the best Clan a month just to figure out how to beat, with rare loot that is not only hard to get but then costs so much money (plus super rare items) needed to upgrade that it would take you about a year to complete it THEN we'll have ppl who want that stuff and will take the game seriously.

So that all depends on the content. I personally im hoping for the later as I like a game with long term goals (without long term goals you have content you can finish and complete in weeks so the game would nee to add new stuff every month (which isnt gonna happen) to keep ppl like me you will most likely play 12 hours a day interested in the game. After ll long term goals is what I expect in an MMO.. difference is I expect those in a P2P mmo (they need to give you incentive to keep you giving them money every month for years to come) F2P and B2P Im not so sure of as you dont HAVE to pay them so they dont really have any reason/incentive to make you stay around as they already made their money from you from the initial purchase of the game.

With a B2P system I imagine there will be purchasable dlc content updates to keep people playing. I have heard no mention of large group raiding for loot. I personally hope there isn't, there are enough games out there with that for end game. I also hope this game is more about skill then super powered gear...

they dont have to be LARGE group raids they could very well be small group raids.. As for purchases yeah we know there will be an item mall just like in GW2 but those purchases are OPTIONAL whs to say everyones gonna buy them enough to make the game generate the kinda revenue a P2P game gets every month?

As for super powered gear umm ANY game thats real time/action gonna be all about skill then gear.. for example space cowboy online is a real time sci fi space/air combat game... sure a high level players plane has more defense than my plane and its guns can take me down in one hit whereas I have to pelt him for 5 minutes before hed die.. difference is I can still win because I can (and have on multiple occasions) out fly him.. being able to kill someone in one hit means nothing fi you cant HIT your target.

The same can be said about this game, skills i always gonna out preform gear no matter how ridicolously strong/powerful the gear gets

I meant updates like new zones, pvp maps and co-op missions. I know skill will mean more in a TPS then in an RPG like WoW or Rift, but I would still like it if this game was more than a gear treadmill like those games. Since it looks like we have 2 weapon slots plus a shield I don't this it will.
