Not sure if this was answered or not but can an Xbox player play with a PS3 or a PC person? I am kind of new so I don't know much about the game but I think it'll be very healthy for a merged community :)

short answer no,
long answer no because of the capitalist pig dogs at money hungry mother mofos incharge of the life sap we call consoles. ie microsoft
Yep. One thing that kills it is that on the PC, add-ons and DLC are very easy to roll out,
versus Xbox and PS3 that want about $40,000 just to have the update/game submitted to a panel to decide if it is alright to put into their "Marketplace".
So if it was cross platform, it would have extreme difficulties keeping everyone on the same page, due to the fact that not every console would have the quick and easy route VS difficult route that comes from console's judgement panel.
Key example of what I just talked about? go compare Team Fortress 2 on the PC, and compare it on the Xbox. You'll see what I mean.
I'm...so sad now...gamers will never unite... :'[
The only game that I know of that has been cross platform was Shadowrun. It didnt really turn out to well because the PC players had the advantage with mouse and keyboard.
While certainly not common on either Xbox or PS3 (why is it only MS gets called out for this when Sony hasn't exactly been big on cross-platform either?), I can think of at least three -- FFXI (PS2 pre-slim, Xbox 360, PC), DCUO (PS3, PC), and Dust 514 (still in beta, I think, and only kinda-sorta in that parts of it interface with a PC game).
There's also more to it than the tug-o-war between Sony, MS, and PC stuff...which is, Mouse Aiming. PC Users, imo, would annihilate Console users.
If you talking about PSU then you are wrong because PS2 and PC were cross but Xbox was stand alone. Also why does everyone blame Xbox for the no love working together because its both of them.
PSU was when i remember right:
PC+PS3 together but split in regions (US JP EU)
Xbox alone but worldwide playing (and the last servers that were shut down)
except for shadowrun there was another PC/Xbox crossplatformgame (futuristic RTS). name is somewhere lost in my brainwastebin.
It hard to say why this won't be possible, but my best guess is down to how the patches will be applied, if im not mistaken for xbox to have a new patch on a game actualy cost the company to have it hosted and it not cheap. P.C is straight up patcher buisness from Trion them selfs,
And of course there this
its not hard to say, because everyone is right. people always try to look for the smoking gun. THE reason, at the end of the day its all of the above, its because ms are money hungry, its because of patch issues, its because of network issues, its because of logisitcal issues, its because sony and ms just simply dont like each other.
the only thing i would say is this kb/m thing has been gone over a million times. and it is true to a degree. in certon games kb/m has got an advantage, its the games where speed and reaction above all are key. Take COD for example, 1 bullet is the matter between life and death. that spilt second reaction with the mouse would win most times. HOWEVER in most other games thats complete rubbish. take BF, the winner is the guy who has the right weapon, at the right time, and has the tactics to know how to read the map and predict enemy movements to know where to strike. only a handful of fightss will actually be won on reaction.
So every game needs to be judged seperatly about kb/m, defiance is one of those games where i truly (still waiting for console beta to try controls) believe can happly marry the 2
sorry had to say my peace ill shut up now :)
even trough having cross platform is good to play with friend who don't have same platform ... it also have is con like the cheater and modder which are more frequent on PC . the pvp . if you have a competitive clan on xbox 360 or ps3 and many use controller ,fighting a pc clan . xbox 360 and ps3 will suffer on that part 90% of the time... to be honest i am happy playing with my platform only =D
FFXIV hits beta on the 25th and will be PC/PS3.
