Massive Gripe About Defiance

Okay, love the game and all, having a blast with it!

BUT DEM TIME TRIALS.

I don't know what it is, I don't do alot of driving games but I have done LOTS of time trials in other games and generally find them easy. However in this game, the terrain for driving is one of the worst I have experienced, again not alot of driving games etc but still seems it. The terrain can just send a car sideways for no reason. The random events spawning practically on top of the points, which has lead to my car being destroyed by hell bugs that can magically pop underneath a moving vehicle (Most broken mechanic in the game I have found)

And the cars control just seem bad, maybe it's because I haven't worked out how to do propper hand break turns etc, but for those of you that CAN drive, got any tips? Like how to handbrake turn etc... I really need these last 2 time trials silver'd so I can get these pursuits done..:cool:

I DO FEEL THAT DRIVING HOWEVER IS FINE FOR GETTING US AROUND THE MAP, JUST THOSE RACES BLOW

EDIT: Okay i've been doing more races, and a fair few of them are absolutely fine, although seriously, mobs, arfkalls and random events spawning on the tracks it getting frustrating as HELL.

I don't do any handbrake turns. If you have to do a handbrake turn tap the brake just enough to break traction. But generally speaking it tends to screw me up more often than not. Keep leveling up your runner skill. As you get it higher it becomes easier to do the time trials because you'll have a higher base speed and better boost. If you go off a big jump try to save a bit of boost for right before you hit the ground, helps maintain speed. If you have too many issues with a particular event spawning in the middle of the track clear it then race.

My biggest problem so far is when I was doing one race a hellbug hellion spawned in the middle of one of my gates, I couldn't get it until the arkfall was completed.

Edit: Boost at the gates with the rings, those gates fully recharge your boost, so try to time it so you're nearly out of boost as you pass through one. If you run out just before passing through it then boost as soon as you can after passing through to make up for it.

Update: This is by far the most broken thing I have experienced in a game for a very long time, Trion fix this driving pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. The driving shouldn't be for those people who are ****ing good at driving, give use driving newbies some le-way, basic mistake made guys.

Yeah Kom I find now for the 3rd time, when I have gone to turn,t he vehicle ignore what im controlling it to do and carries on going forward.

You all are gonna hate me for saying this but...I hope that at some point cars/atvs/trucks cannot drive through each other. And maybe make it so that vehicles cannot drive around Ark site running everything down. I don't mind the occasional, thanks buddy I have 15 bugs I'm trying to fight off drive right through take some out.

I think my only complaint is the turning radius of a 4 wheeler other than that keep mindful off terrain and you wont go flying off into left field.

TMK the driving is made easier by using a controller, as it seems to be designed around them. That being said, I just got used to the WASD which I despise. Mouse should be used, not just WASD.

I have managed to get gold in all time trials using WASD. But I understand not everyone is as comfortable or grew up playing racing games with the keyboard.

Just did the trial, no crashes, relatively bug free and was 40 second slower than the 1st place guys, which probably means 20-30 seconds away from sivler.

Swear if I don't get this tonight i'm returning this game, no point in it if I can't do these pursuits!

Okay I probably won't return it but this game goes from a 8/10 to 7/10 for this, (making me mad, which is dam rare thing for games to do)!

I'm with you on the pain of the driving. I spent 2 hours today just doing one race over and over...and was still 8 seconds short of silver on my best run. I'm on Xbox and am about ready to throw my controller threw the tv. Sadly, it's that way on every last race for me, even the first race I managed a silver by 1 second. :mad:

Wow, ur gonna return the game because day 4 of the games release, u are not a professional baja driver? c'mon bro, i've hit every damn rock and tree in the game, but it beats the heck out poundin the ground on foot.

Although I do agree that as far as getting us around the map, Driving is fine!
