underpowered weapons

I like using my sniper rifles but they feel a tad weak there fine on arkfalls where or anywhere crits are easy to land but compared to my 3 round burst assault rifle I can land so many crits per second not a game breaker or anything I just feel like alot of weapons dont compare to my AR. I mean some guns are situational I suppose but it feels most of my guns don't have the ammo reliability or dps that the assault rifle is capable of. Once again it could be my own shortcomings but I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on the subject.

On the subject of underpowered weapons, why are there ARs that do 40 damage when every other one does 300+? Or shotguns that do 40x8 when the rest are 95x12 or higher?

This game is heavily based upon borderlands. The damage range is based upon rarity of the item even of the same level or requirements. There is likely a fair amount of random number generation with weapon stats based upon a set of parameters and the rarity.

You pretty much answered your own question. The weapons are situational and have pros and cons based around what works best for them. You may enjoy ARs most because they are the balanced, mid range of all the weapon types. Consider damage per shot, range, ammo per clip, rate of fire, reload speed, crit chance and crit multiplier when considering how you feel about them.

Yeah but I'm saying I dont see a point where the assault rifle is weaker then any guns I have a scope on one that is the is the same as my sniper rifles can paint the area like the semi auto sniper with more rounds and I dont run outta bullets quickly its a little weaker but I put more rounds on tartget im just saying that that I think snipers should be stronger before the crit bonus two rounds to the chest is about as strong as one sniper round but it'll take me alot longer to get successive shots off. The semi auto sniper is a decent alternative but your outta bullets in three magazines. Rocket launchers are hindered but the ammo restrictions even worse and there splash damage isnt much unless your using a cluster of sorts. I feel like they get handicapped but dont have much of a bonus. Sorry for rambling just trying to get peoples opinions.

With the light machine guns I don't understand why anyone would bother with the Interceptor when the SAW is basically the same gun with 4x the damage. Interceptors need a crit bonus or something to make them useful.

I find my assault rifle is awesome in arkfalls, but i use a high power/low rate of fire. if i use a high rate of fire, forget it, i'd spend more time running for ammo. But in solo missions, i use my sniper rifle more often, i can pick enemies off and kill them faster from afar on single player missions, but in arkfall the sniper rifle is kinda a joke compared to my assault rifle.

It is annoying that we are so relient on ammo that i have to use the version of guns that have the highest damage per shot in order to reserve it, making high rate of fire but low dmg per shot weapons useless. I really think they need to adjust maximum ammo capacity depending on the rate of fire and dmg per shot of a gun, so those very high rater of fire but low damage guns have more ammo and make it worth possibly using over a different type of gun.

For me assault rifle is the best gun for arkfalls, i can easily get 1-5th place using just an assault rifle. i just did it earlier today and people asked if i was using an infector, i said no i used assault rifle whole time and he was shocked... You just need the right one. I was 1st place today and have 20-30% more dmg then anyone else and there was at least 30+ people.

I would say different situation for different guns is a given, but that is the answer I'm going with. Pistols are very easy to use and can be a good sub for SMG or mid range sniping purposes. Sniper rifle with 4x crit does wonder for once shot kills with precision over an uber long range (longer than assult rifle). Shotgun has it's place among CBC especially for certain events (hint hint).

Smg is for people who loves tiny numbers all over the screen, and most importantly elemental damage. If you want to get the most hit out of a short golden period of time, SMG does that well. Assult rifle is pretty standard for all purpose - pretty good on range, precision, damage, rate of fire. LMG has high damage and lots of bullets and the range is surprisingly far even if accuracy isn't. LMG does have it's perk for people who knows how to combo it well ;) BMG and Infector I group them pretty much together as unique weapons with emphisis on BMG for healing and infector for best accuracy in gun choices.

Then there are things that goes BOOM in the night :D

Because there are variation of each weapon, and random parimeters from rares, it really is up to the player to decide their game style/setup. I use all weapons, though I am hesitant about BMG and infector, but I've seen users with builts that use them so well.

Aiming is way too shoddy in the console versions to make a sniper rifle even half worth it outside of shooting unsuspecting enemies. I can't even begin to count how many times the reticle has gone red, as in "this is in a location where you can injure the enemy" and have it completely miss. Even better is shooting the same spot 3 times and only having one bullet actually land.

For this reason, this game HEAVILY favors fast-firing weapons even if they do "less damage" than a Sniper Rifle. I appreciate a "skill cap" but this isn't so much of a skill cap as it is snipers being weak in damage for how hard they are to use in comparison to something like an AR or an LMG where I can fire blindly and do just as much if not more damage in less time with less hassle.
