Did Trion always expect Defiance to be a one and done game?

Ive really enjoyed my experience with Defiance and the type of game it is (Open world 3rd person shooter) and am always on the look out for my next game. Most people gravitate towards games like ESO when they move on from Defiance, but not me. I cant stand the hack-n-slash, kootie spell casting, zapping enemies with a magical stick, riding around on a unicorn, or top-down follow view kind of games. What I need is a Defiance 2.

An open world 3rd person shooter in a historical setting such as a world war would be a cool.

Anyway, just wondering if there is/was ever talk about another Defiance style game planned?

MMOs are never really one and done, they continue to evolve throughout their lifetime. Defiance has a dedicated team that continues to work on content and updates. :)

We have no plans at this time for another Defiance style game. We DO have Atlas Reactor, which is in closed beta at the moment.

I guess what sparked the thought, and why I started the thread, was seeing a new player pull his first legendary today. It took me back to when I first started and how that felt when I pulled my first. I pulled a Meteor Bolter and had no idea what it was. Told my friends, and the next thing I knew I had a line formed up to see it in a trade window.

I was really excited when talk of supremes started. I though "Sweet, I get to start grinding for new rarity gear to replace my legendary!". But was disappointed when it turned out to just be a process of taking my current gear and upgrading them. I get that the expos have them, but I prefer to have them drop as new standard synergy items from open world events and keycode lockboxes.

Us long time players need some new gear to chase. We have a crit bonus shield (Bullseye)...why not add a dmg bonus shield? A new AR would be cool...AK-47? 50cal Sniper? etc...
