At least for x360... the left joystick and the dpad do slightly different things. Might work exactly the same for ps3:
Like:
left joystick will move ya through the different categories. push right on it while in the categories.
Right on dpad will go to the next page (if there is a next page)
gotta hit joystick right to get into the list of items before using dpad up and down to scroll through the list (I say use dpad for scrolling up and down the items because it won't scroll through the bottom like joystick down will).
So jus kinda play around with the left joystick and the dpad... the differences in what the two do will be pretty easy to see. Kinda clunky but it works (at least as far as moving your 'cursor' around lol... doesn't seem to be anyone able to buy things tonight)
