I bought this game 4 days ago and played it casually. Beat Nim the 1st try.

I am always amazed when people say something is hard in a game and those same people then say that games are supposed to be enjoyable and fun. They use words like relaxing, easy, rewarding. The thing is, games are ONLY this way if you are a spectator. There has been 1 truth about games thru all of history and that is... someone wins and someone loses. Its only been this generation that has tried to change that concept with the idea that .. everyone should win.

Now I could wax on more about this concept but this generation also does not think it should have to read more than a couple sentences so I will get right to my point...

If at some point you fail and the 1st thought in your head is to write about that failure on a message board with the intent to get it to be easier then you should go ahead and relegate yourself back to being a spectator rather than a player.

Lol a friend and I was talking about the same thing some days ago. This generation of consoles the games have without a doubt got easier. I remember when a last boss was so challenging it took attempts over days! The last hard boss that comes to mind for me was in Ninja gaiden 2. To the people who are finding Nim tough just remember you only have to beat him once!

You would of loved The Gate Keeper then in The Secret World. At least Nim doesn't require you to have one of 4 specific specs to beat him. I quit TSW because of that bs. I don't want to be forced or shoe horned into specific specs just to beat 1 boss fight. I'd rather play the way I want and have a chance to figure it out on my own and reap the rewards of success. There was also no way to respec your abilities in TSW so you were stuck and had to keep grinding coop maps that's you've already done dozens of times to get the points to spend on your GK needed abilities. Nim can be done how ever you choose to play.

It's not that folks feel everyone should win... it's that they, themselves, can't handle losing. This is in a video game. A VIDEO GAME.

Consoles...5 buttons... I expect Xbox and PS4 to have only one (1) button.

As for you, JammyThumbs you have to beat it over an over again. Because inb this "awesome" game that's what you will be doing. Repeating the main missions. However killing Nim will get easier once you are over 1k EGO.

Because you ppl should realize that's the EGO you should have when facing Nim and play the game. PLAY THE GAME, NOT RUSH THE CONTENT.

I disagree with some of the OP's advice :

Overcharge - Not sure why you'd discourage this as it worked fine for me. Pop it wisely when there's an opening.

Weapon. - Good old SAW with Siphon and a TAC Autopistol (the second which I rarely used).

    Shield - Rebel Charger (1375 base, 10% recharge/sec rate, 3 sec delay).

    Ego Level - 736

Strategy - Much like fighting anything with hard hitting heavily forecast attacks just learn to roll, quickscope, shoot, roll, etc. Use pillars / crates to your advantage for cover. Learn his attack chain patterns and you'll be fine. Key to fight is staying mobile and punishing the openings with burst DPS. I literally changed nothing in my build for the Nim fight. Died maybe 3-4 times total across all of Nim's phases. I'm not bragging here as much as I'm saying don't sweat it too bad on doing massive build overhauls to bring down Nim.

I think this boss was a lot more harder for me because of my internet lag... Can't dodge incoming attacks, and my attacks have a delay which stuff like grenades or detonation explosives don't hit unless they stay in that same place. I died about 30 times fighting him with my usual loadout, until someone suggested to use the BMG. Thing saved my life so many times fighting him, and I completed all 3 phases with that 1 gun alone. But yep, clearly the hardest boss I've EVER faced in gaming history.

Is only for your own pleasure, the rewards are appropriate but it is not what brought high EGO players to where they are.
I still am quite disappointed because I expected to be able to choose which mission I can play again and not restart the whole story line.

Yes, very true. In a way I did rush through myself, but I didn't ignore any of the side missions and they gave me a lot more progress on weapon handling, understanding what perks I should choose and while my character might have not become that much stronger, me the player learned to understand the mechanics of the game and in turn became more capable.

    Doobles
I had him down to 1/4 hp on the last battle. Defiance's wonderful servers then kick me. I am pissed. If they made sprinting a non-toggle option and a better way of rolling it would have been way easier. I still can't get over the weird controls of this game, I mean, why the hell is left alt the roll key? Needless to say I won't be playing Defiance for the next few days out of rage. Oh yeah... and decoy did not help whatsoever for me.

First battle I died 3 times, second I died 4 times, third I died 6 times and when I was gonna win I was disconnected. If I have anything good to say about this fight, it is that afterwards I had a new respect for flare magnums and incendiary grenades.

As firstly I need to say that I RECOMMENDED that setup, I didn't say it's accomplishable without the setup. It just makes it alot easier.

As for Overcharge, I do not recommend it because it's an offensive perk, it's alot better to have a defensive perk in the fight such as Cloak or Decoy which may save your life.

Weapon - I didn't disagree with a saw, siphon or that pistol... I even promoted a BMG(siphon) in the recommended setup

Shield - I recommended respark because of the 3 recharge delay but Rebel works fine too I guess.
