yea syphon needs a buff since it was nerfed before plates went live
a little more dmg and lifesteal would be cool to pair it with the other nanos
it does less damage because it steals life and steals less life only comparitively now that we have other lifesteal weapons With nanos, the nanos do the extra damage, we are lucky to have them, previously all we had for lifesteal was syphon.
Least they can increase the lifesteal on pve n damage
syphon got nerfed because its too op
syphon was nerfed because it was way to op. if it gets buffed . it will effect bit store sales of hunters reqs. it will just get knocked back down again.
maybe we can test the syphon nano to penetrate armor plates similar to radiation and see how effective that is
I would rather see syphon do 15% more dmg with 7.5% lifesteal. I think that would be a better balance for dmg/lifesteal.
I'm assuming that none of you saw the Defiance live stream where they stated that there will be changes made to syphon but as yet they have not said what those changes will be except they will be some kind of buff not a nerf.
the reason is got a nerf is because thats all people would use. syphon and nothing else.
The thing that the devs are apparently neglecting to take into account is, that while it might have made sense then, now we have synergies with life/shield steal. Nano's are supposed to fill a specific role but syphon becomes redundant when players can use guns with any other nano and still get the benefit that syphon provides. Without a buff there is not enough to set it apart from these synergies and will continue almost completely unused.
I have a t6 syphon fop BR that I use a lot. I personally love syphon and if they buff it great but if not I'll be ok too. Just because some (most) don't agree or even like it is no reason to remove it though. There are are many different weapon types I rarely use but that doesn't mean I feel they should be removed from the game. One of the things I enjoy most about playing is the ability we have to personalize the guns we use (type, nano, rolls, mods) to our different styles of play or situations. It's not a "here is your gun go shoot stuff" game unless you want it to be.
Is this thread also reflecting upon the Arktech dlc's skill tree options of buffing syphon skills?
using 1000 as the dps figure (for example's sake, an easy number). Result is lifesteal per second with 1000 dps, with dlc5's bloodsucker and deadly apparition active.
(1000*1.067)*0.10=106.7
(1000*1.217)*0.075=91.275
Your idea would actually be a major nerf.
Unless you're talking about a 15% damage increase and 7.5% lifesteal for the nano itself, as in the nano itself does an additional 15% damage and 7.5% lifesteal without the dlc5 perks.
Then it'd work out to
(1000*1)*0.05=50
(1000*1.15)*0.075=86.25
and just for comparison to the above with DLC5 active figures: (1000*1.217)*0.135=164.295
Now that'd actually be a buff.
1.217 because 1+0.67+0.15 & 0.135 because 7.5% base syphon lifesteal plus dlc5's +lifesteal perk for syphon
The current 0.05 lifesteal based on ingame testing from a while back (syphon lifesteal without dlc5 and without proc). Which might be more like 4% but definitely somewhere in the 4-5% range.
More dmg would definitely not hurt syphon, but any kind of decrease in the amount of lifesteal would hurt it. The lifesteal effect of syphon is exactly what sets it apart from other nanos.
