Vendor Rep Bar

ok, this is confusing ...can a dev explain this ..
my vendor rep bar was almost at the end of the 1200 rep bar , it was at 1,17? , before I did a 50 rep contract and went over the 1200 limit on bar and basically lost potentially 30 plus rep , I spent some....does this mean I have to start all over to achieve the next plateau ? of 1200 to get another rank ? :confused:

I thought it counted internally, but I've had a lot of people tell me I need to spend rep for the bar to increase. I'm working on letting my PT rep stay capped and see if in a couple of months it increases while capped at 1300/1300. Made a post about this a while ago, didn't get any solid answers though. :/

The plateaus don't line up with the xp bar.

rep level 6 is like 3-4k total rep
rep level 7 is like 4-5
and rep level 8 is 5-8k rep.

In other words you will have to fill that bar about 3 times to get from rep level 7 to 8.

Hi Taur,

Hope you're doing well.

You definitely do not have to spend rep to get to the next level. My Echelon level was 7 and I had the max rep of 1400. I kept doing the contracts, which I love(NOT!!) just as much you do, without spending any rep and this week I made it to level 8 (horaaaayyyyy!!!). Now I'm done with PVP (for the second time!).

Jimmie Mac is correct. There is an internal total count that keeps going up, even if you are capped with your current reputation. This means that you do not HAVE to spend your reputation in order to keep earning towards your next rank. If you would like to know the amount of total reputation it takes to get to each level, they are outlined on the season 4 pursuit in the goals section of the UI. Hope this clears up your issue!

I finished mine as well. The relief is INNNNCREDIBLE. This calls for a celebratory dance at Water Temple later. Just as well, I'm glad to have this cleared up! PT rep is going to take forever to increase.

ok ,so my in game bar has a cap of 1200 rep , I was at 1170 , was about to do a weekly which rewards 50 ...if I did this pursuit before spending rep , would my bar have maxed at 1200 , and a new bar would have showed up , but would that new bar already have the 20 rep I went over on the previous ? hope this is clearer ...

Wish I'd known this earlier today or even yesterday.
I've spent hundreds of rep I wouldn't of done if I'd known.

Nope... And the answer is definitely a resounding NO. I know this because I went at least a year without buying anything in the echelon vendor due to it having crap in there. After the update I thought I'd spend some on the new merc gear...none of the extra vendor rep I've accumulated over the last year was added to the bar. If you go over the cap before spending then you won't be able to spend the extra rep. It will count towards your level/rank, but not your rep bar.
