recently though... Expendables was good, less recently, Serenity/Firefly.
as for comedies, Hot Fuzz, shaun of the dead, zombieland and Paul.
edit: and although most people will likely disagree, i thought Outlander and Battleship were good movies
Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter... I'd list second and third favorites, but it would imply that there are other films that compare to JCVH.
For comedy i will say TED . i never laugh that hard in any comedy movie I've seen =)
