I agree.
Also, Trion has announced that gameplay will have weeklong events that dictate the outcome of our world. if we fail to finish the goal by the time the next episode comes live, the world will reflect that failure

with those numbers yes. I think people dont think of it as a huge difference though because its quite a hunt to find a good mod that actually works for your weapon, and plus the numbers are tiny. like a 5% increase or a 2% increase. Never have I seen a 50% or 25%.
But yes, the more I've gotten into modding my weapons, and regularly switching through once I fully level a weapon, the more fun I'm having. I just wish everything wasnt such a crap shoot. It's hard to get good mods even after completing dozens and dozens of side missions, and most of the mod vendors only sell the lower tiered mods, and so you're left with either lockboxes or grinding rep or waiting to find a random good mod sell at one of the vendors. It would be nice to have the mod vendors sell an array of varying leveled mods. Not just level 1. So then people could save up their scrip and see more of a difference.
someone should bring an ego 40 friend to san fran to fight some dark matter
It wont and they've pretty much said outright that that is the case.
