    Interesting and effective perk/skill combos?
    Howdy.

I may be getting the game soon, I've been wanting to play it with my friends, and I was wondering what some good combinations of the perks and skills people were enjoying.

I'm trying to get a good idea of what i'd like to go for, but I'm still undecided. I was thinking of rolling with Decoy at the start though.

Apparently it's the Cloak skill and the Dead Silence perk.

Currently going tanky. Have Overcharge for my main power with a bunch of damage redux perks and increased health/health regen. I don't think I've died since I went from Cloak to this spec so it does what I want it to.

I love shotguns in PvE since that's mostly what I do. I run blur with single minded (stand still 30% reload) escape artist (shield down run faster) survival instinct (shield down 45% reload) displacement field (shield up 45% run speed for 3 secs) and this last one I can't remember the name but it does 12% extra crit dmg when firing from the hip. Standing still and reloading something like a fragger standing still with no shields is like a 3 second reload for 15 shells, assault rifles reload less than a second. I love it and blur mixed in makes you harder to hit and resistant to attacks that make you fly. This works for me really.

Overcharge, with All the explosive skills (Mad Bomber, Shock Trooper, several others right above the skill I think). Currently bugged to only work with Detonators and Rocket Launchers, but essentially you'll always be throwing grenades everywhere, and occasionally firing your weapon to recharge the nade super fast. And never having to reload is good. If you ever find yourself having to reload, use overcharge to do it for you. Or you can just use overcharge from the beginning and explode everything, but until the skills extend to explosive shottys and pistols and other weapons with the rounds, you'll be running out of ammo pretty fast.

Too many explosive builds around arkfalls and stuff though, so prepare for lag.

Skills are all effective. Really comes down to your playstyle. If you like PvP Cloak is probably the best bet, extremely OP there. Also works wonders to move around enemies you don't want to deal with.
Overcharge is great for arkfalls and the like.
Decoy if you want to run around with a shotty blasting things without worrying about getting shot.
Blur is great to get out if you're in a pinch.

As for Perks, some work, some doesn't. Again it comes down to your playstyle, the weapons you're using and so forth.

Myself I'm running with AR/Sniper and Cloak, more loot on Crit kill, passive ammo regen, damage increase while cloaked and some extra health. + a few other tidbits. I rarely use the cloak, merely grabbed it for the loot perk, because loot is awesome.

Now I'm curious if the various loot perks stack... Would the loot on crit kill stack with the explosive kill/melee kill perks?

Probably but you'd have to give up several perk slots for it. Currently there's 9 slots that you can equip perks in. And you'd have to waste some points in the other EGO abilities to reach all the loot perks.

Might give it a work over. Have my core perks set already. Already have the explosive and melee loot perks to where I can get them. Just about to the crit kill as well. Throw that on a ****ing around load out and see how it does for gear grinding.

If you decide to start with Overcharge, look at getting Preparedness. It's also not too far from Decoy.

It automatically reloads the weapon you aren't currently using in your loadout over time. I really like it.

Yeah, this'll probably be part of my endgame double LMG loadout. Wish it had ammo regen as well, but that'd be a little OP and would make the other ammo regen skills useless.

Could run LMG/Infector so you'd at least have dual ammo pools to draw from. I imagine dual LMGs would be murder on your ammo. Haven't worked with infectors at all so I'm not familiar with their damage potential.

Preparedness is one of my staple perks, though. Unload the primary AR/LMG, switch over to the Deto/Shotgun and work some things over, switch back, drop some more enemies. Never stop shooting. Tend to lead Co-Op by 200k - 300k damage since I made that switch.

All of that sounds good. My original plan to go Decoy and be tanky and sometimes use healing guns kinda fell off the truck. Since there's no real taunt or anything it wouldn't work the way it does in other mmos. It might work in a more TF2 way if i had someone healing me.

I might go blur at the start and run around like Lilith in Borderlands just mowing things down with hipfire.

I typically use an auto shotgun and AR/SMG/LMG. Sometimes I use infectors as well. I have the following setup, at Ego 409, all maxed:

    Overcharge: +30% damage

    Perks:

-- Killing Machine: +6 second overcharge duration
-- Quick Charge: -9 second on OC recharge (if that makes sense)
-- Thick Skinned: 1/2 damage after shield breaks for 3 seconds. I run a respark, so my shield starts charging up after 3 secs.
    -- Fortitude: +225HP

Next perk will be Overload, which will give me 30% faster reload on weapons. Not so important on SMGs, but will come in handy for the LMGs, shotties, etc.

Cloak with all the +Crit bonuses and a Wolfhound pistol with Dark Matter effect is INSANE damage, out damaging people in Co-op's by 200-300k

PS: You need to go for head shots, I find it super easy with practice, plus I love pistols.
