Is this how the weapons are supposed to scale?
Just curious as I've pretty much been rocking the same weapons since launch. Why is my 150lvl Green AR so much better than these 500lvl ARs?
IE my green 150lvl (around, I don't know exact) is a FRC Carbine that does 440 damage a shot and I found a purple 500 AR inside of the store that does 50 a shot. Now granted the AR was one of those rifles that have the fire rate of an SMG but only 50 a shot?!?

There are also many other weapons/quest rewards that I have destroyed because my current weapon that I've had for around 400 lvls completely deficates on these level 500+ weapons.

that one that does 50 a shot also has a larger magazine

ar's come in low damage high mag, medium damage (220 variety) with medium mag and burst (tac assault) with high damage (379 avg) but 3 round burst and smaller magazines.

i've never come across a 440 dmg ar, only 400+ dmg lmg's. you got lucky. when you max it out dont toss it. save it for when you've capped ar skill (which is 20 btw)

I already lost it due to the glitch with disappearing weapons. I was quite pissed off, it was my favorite weapon. Pretty much a sniper rifle with a scope.

If you're literally using the same specific gun for that long, you're gimping your weapon skill advancement. The way the game currently works is that you have to switch out your guns once you reach the xp cap for that specific gun in order to keep earning weapons XP for that weapon type. Not a reason to trade out for the specific one you mention there, but it's a reason why you need to keep switching out your guns.

what mods do you have on your 150 AR and what would the 500 AR look like with some mods?

Before it was deleted I had:

    Sight: Aim damage
    Stock: bloom/recoil reduction
    Mag: Extended mag
    Barrel: crit barrel

It was a Semi-auto weapon, and it was glorious.

As for the 500 weapon, I have no clue. When I couldn't find one with damage higher than 220 it was immediately tossed in the matrix and destroyed. Good to know about the weapon level though, didn't know that.

I'm now back to using the purple AR from the TV missions. I miss my semi auto :(

This is a broken mechanic. Either they need to make weapon skill advance regardless, or they need to make a weapon progression more evident.

I got a really nice LMG pretty much right after I left the tutorial, and have not found a better LMG yet. I refuse to gimp myself just so I can "progress" (which is a joke, gimping yourself isn't progression).

The weapon progression in this game is either extremely opaque, or it's not there at all.

That purple AR that does 50 damage (Its one of the Blaster rifles.. can't remember if its the VOT or the Votan off hand), may not seem very good at first glance but with its high rate of fire its one of the upper end DPS weapons in the game.
People forget to factor in the RoF when looking at weapons, with the right mods and high weapon skill those blaster rifles become monster weapons in the right hands.

It's the FRC Heavy Assault Carbine. Semi-Automatic Assault Rifle with a scope as standard. 20 round magazine.

The VOT/Votan Blast Rifle (40 per shot) is actually 40x3 per shot. It's a very good hipfire weapon.

It's simply because you haven't yet had an AR drop with bonues already on it and a suitable synergy to mod it with. It seems the higher your EGO, the more often you'll start to see these, at least that's the way it feels for me around level 1900.

Eventually you'll get a higher level equivalent, with bonuses like accuracy or rate of fire or mag size already built in before you actually level it, you just have to cross your fingers the bonuses and the synergy match the weapon that drop.

Weapons improve, but not their base stats.
Base stats are always the same (dmg, reload, mag, etc.) for each weapon type--an EGO 120 VBI TACC Assault Rifle has the same base stats as an EGO 2,500 VBI TACC Assault Rifle.

However, the level improvements come in the form of included modifiers/bonuses. You sometimes see these as "x0.90 Reload" or "x1.05 Critical DMG." As you increase your EGO level, these bonuses become more common, more numerous, and slightly more powerful. You'll also see newer ones.

For instance, at EGO 120, you might only see a purple VBI rifle that has "x0.95 Reload," but at EGO 1,500, a purple VBI rifle might have "x0.85 Reload, x1.15 Critcal DMG, and 15% Grenade Recharge on Kill." I'm EGO 1,600 and I've seen as many as 3 bonuses so far (not counting the one randomly awarded when you fully level that weapon, or Synergy bonuses).

It's just a lengthy and slow progress, so you won't really know the differences until much much later, and those differences aren't phenomenal. But in the end, having a x1.25 Critical DMG bonus is much better than the starting x1.05 bonus.

The 440 is a single shot AR with a scope

This. You can see this type of scaling kick in as you approach and pass EGO 500. Even vendor sales will more frequently have nice purples with extra stats and synergies. Also more mod slots already on the weapon.

Yes. The number on a weapon is simply so you cant give it to your friend who plays less.

No but on a serious note im up to 1500 and im starting to see different synergy types and
when i max out weapon xp im getting better bonuses then i used to.
