My wife and I both have a job, and the pricing sucks. It feels like a rip off to not get a 1:1 conversion with the bits:dollars. unless I get a $50 bundle.
and then they make it so even for the $10 stuff, you have to buy $20 worth of bits.

I don't necessarily think the bits are overpriced, but the items in the store. ESPECIALLY the outfits...
got 1200 free bits from the ultimate edition so i am set for anything i may want lol
Yes just like about every other micro system out lol. Most start at a 1:1 conversion but the prices are double so to get items you need to even compete at higher levels your spending 50 a week on them. Here nothing and I do repeat nothing in the store do you NEED to play and compete not even the boxs . So why are people complain about haveing to spend the cost of a movie night to play dress up ...Hell now that I think about it I do think last time I went to the movies I spent 40 lol.
I'm enjoying the game and would probably pump more quarters into it but yeah at the current pricing it's not gonna happen for me. I'd rather spend the cash on an indie game than a fresh outfit.
This is just sad. . . Complaining about the bits is just kinda lame and trollish if you ask me but ill throw in a crumb.
First the server is free that's right you don't have to buy a sub in fact they don't offer subs. If you like the game you really should support it by donating money to the cause of feeding the servers price tag to keep the game running. Oh wait they don't have a donate button but they do offer you bits you can buy they get paid money and you have some bits to buy cosmetic items with an the feeling of pride that your not a freeloader using up there bandwidth and not contributing a dime like some sorta slacker or hobo.
As the game progresses I'm sure some cool items will pop up on the marketplace that. Again might not be needed but would be cool and heck if you like the game you should help feed the server cost. Great thing is you don't have to pay them a dime if you don't want to but I hope it was because you couldn't afford a few bucks to throw at them not because your a freeloader.
Either you don't want anything, or you haven't looked in the store. 1200 bits won't buy you much at all. I of course agree with the OP. When those "First Look" videos showed outfits and headgear from the store, the prices were quite a bit lower. I thought "Ok, a bit excessive but I can see myself buying a thing or two.", but once the game released those prices went way up and I won't be buying a thing. I put $20 on my account for that very purpose, but once I saw how little it would buy I changed my mind. Trion would make more by charging less. To get the one outfit I'd like to buy, I'd need to spend $15 and I'd have very few bits left over. If that outfit was $5, a lot more people would buy it.
Many people would say it's sad to spend $15 for a virtual outfit and headgear, and then claim to be getting a good deal. As far as I remember, I had no say in the Defiance pricing structure. I'd rather pay a sub and have access to everything than be nickel and dimed. I'll save my money for more substantial DLC. They'd end up making more money to support those servers if they charged less for the bits and items.
Paying for new dlc is buying that new content to pay the people involved and make a little coin for the company. That does not include your service. You say you don't mind paying a sub of say 15 dollars where you get nothing special extra really however playing a free game and having the opprotunity to buy an outfit once a month at 15 dollars is not right or fair?
If they had a donate button would. You be willing to donate say 5. Bucks a month or even 10? If you would donate to feed the server why wouldn't you buy bits and get a outfit that you most likely would use for the next few months as you paid for it. I'm just pointing out that nothing is game changing bit wise and nothing that gives you a mega advantage over another gamer. But I think people use these excusses to justify to themselves that they are cheapskates who will use the service but would never nor do have intentions of supporting it. In fact those individuals feel they are entitld to play because without them in the game world nothing ever would get compleated...
Defiance isn't a free game. I said I'd rather pay a sub and get access to everything. They can charge whatever they want to for outfits and headgear. There's nothing unfair about it, but they'd make more money if they charged less because more people would buy. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that. They aren't manufacturing outfits for everyone, needing to make enough money to cover materials and labor for each item. You think refusing to pay $15 for a virtual item is cheap? That's bizarre to me.
