Wow, this came off worse than the op....
I mean the op made his point in a bad way, but it was still a good point.
A least his post didn't make my eyes bleed.

I agree only in principle. Weapon types, colors, mods, etc mean absolutely nothing to me at this point. Not only have I used something like 100 different ones by now, none of them were really different. I avoided the semi auto ARs since theyre so unbelievably bad, but I don't even try and get purple or orange anymore.
Weapon skills should have gated access to weapons instead of EGO. Weapon skills could have opened up increases in mods and quality and made the whole thing more organic.
a simple solution to this, dont mod any weapons until u are at 20, and only mod the oranges. Case solved.
all I can think is that it is an interesting "system" however accept for the odd person on the forums every body I have talked too, clan and other wise agrees that it is a failed "system"... sure you max out the xp on your gun, so your now perfect with that gun after using for half an hour? well thats not stupid at all... sarcasm, I would suggest making it so they gain much more experience for these weapons or disconnect the two totally, however I do have to say there are much bigger issues that need to be dealt with first... fixing the co-op maps for starters
I do not care for this system, it feels backwards. I level a weapon, it gets better -- I want to continue using it (I do actually on my pvp/arkfall loadout; i hear weapons don't level there and I want the best)
Think about it, is the idea to mod/tweak/familiarize your arkhunter to to his signature weapon by caring for it; hence new abilities at max level. Hell in the show the Nolan wanted his gun back, that thing must have level capped a long time ago.
For it to feel logical, it should to be reversed; weapon start with the extra stat, and once they hit the max level they loose that stat, thus simulating being damaged.
Either way, there is incentive to level new weapons without locking weapon skill; trying to get a weapon to ding the perfect level up skill. I think this is going to be the meta game once we have all maxed out our weapon skills and no longer need to worry about this quirky mechanic.
The current system might have seemed liked a good idea in theory, but in practice it is just annoying as hell to me.
My primaries are the SAW and the Heavy Assault Carbine. I use these because they dish out maximum damage per hit. Look at the stats and you will see this. I can find the Frontier SAW in a couple of vendors, but the Heavy Assault Carbine is relatively rare. Because of that fact, my LMG skill is rising and my AR skill is falling behind. Lockboxes are a waste of resources almost all of he time. 90% of the time I just salvage the items that are in there. I get better stuff from drops.
Stripping the mods off of a weapon costs resources [way too much, IMO], so it's just cheaper to keep buying new mods and installing them onto a new weapon, and simply resource out the old one. I do keep each version of my modded weapons because they have different effects. So I have 4 SAWs, each with a different effect modifier. This kind of routine gets old very fast:
Current weapon maxes out.
Buy new weapon [if possible]. If needed--maybe one dropped, but not likely.
Mod weapon. [Add slot if needed--wait 10 minutes [!]]
Use that weapon until it maxes out.
Repeat.
This is completely counter to every shooter that I have ever played. Your skill with an M-4, for example, will increase as you practice with the M-4, but your skill will not increase any faster if you shoot an identical [different serial number] M-4. That concept is just plain silly. It is not in shooters, and it's certainly not related to firing real-world weapons.
I'd pay some resources to RESET my current weapon, if that option was a possiblity. It would be less annoying.
So put me in the camp of those who don't like the weapon skills system. I'm not ranting about it; it doesn't 'break the game', but I just find it silly and annoying, and it's limiting my weapons choices.
I dont get what the people who dislike this idea lose out of this...why not have a xp reset button, if u wanna use a maxed out weapon and gain no overall xp then you will still be able to, if you wanna use different weapons and max them out you still can i mean please tell me what do you lose
I use big clip machine guns. i also carry two :D. so i can constantly spray bullets everywhere, but on my desired target. I love when i find a new gun to lvl up with. It keeps the combat refreshing for me. I don't wanna be using the same saw i've been using since ego 50, at ego 500. I have had no problem coming across new mods for my new guns either. Furthermore that's just more incentive for me to play the game. I don't switch guns right away after i've maxed it out either. I don't need everything now!
I remember when i was young. i had action figures i loved as a kid. One day i grew up and stashed them in a box in my attic.
Good, that was the point because that was in essences what the post was about.
Sorry for the eye bleed, unless it was ark of the convenient style then no. That's awesome.
Just a harsh way of pointing out, there's a huge difference between criticism and being a dbag...on a high horse...with a 40 gallon snap back.
There are problems but it still better/not worse than.... What was the benchmark again?
At least your forced to not use crap guns against harder stuff, but I do agree the scrap part is a little expensive and the guns should have a higher xp bracket
